Les doua Subahfhip of Candic, alias Nagore hef; By God's nes à bleffing, the Fort and Country of Candernager, alias Tanjore. has been taken poffeffion of by the Circat. As I have for a long time paft been in friendship with, and been favourably inclined towards the fettlement of the Dutch Company, in confideration of the proper obedience fhewn by the Dutch to the Circar, I write this directing, thar, conformable to the times of the Government of former Rajahs down to the time of the adminiftration of the Rajah Pertaupa Sing, you pafs the cloths of the Dutch Company, upon receiving one half of the cuftoms; that in the ancient, villages likewife belonging to Negapatam, you fuffer water to pass in the manner which has been customary of old; that the people moreover belonging to the Dutch Company, with their goods and effects. be fuffered to pafs to and fro through the Tanjore diftricts in the fame manner as before; and that in the village of Chickal they may keep their fhops, as has been ufual.

Efteeming this a pofitive order, comply with it accordingly.

Candernagur, alias Tanjore, with the country thereof, à Can has been taken poffeffion of, in confequence of the favour, dernagor friendship, and fupport which I have ever fhewn to the

o His Highness Nabob Walau Jau, Umeer ul Hind, ReftituUmdet ul Mulk, Serajah ul Dowlah, Aneverdy Cawn es dition faitt Behauder, Munfoor Jung, Sepoy Sardar, Subahdar of Aricts the Carnatick, and to the fountain of generofity, the achetés Nabob Umeer ul Omrah, Mauder ul Mulk, Roufhana Holl. ul Dowlab, Haphez Mahomed Monover Cawn Behauder, Behauder Jung, who having been fent with an army, has conquered the fort and country of Tanjore. On the part of the Dutch Eaft - India Company; We, the Honourable Reyner Van Vliffengen, Governor and Director of the fea port of Negapatam, on the Coaft of Choromandel &c. Gentlemen of the Secret Council of the said place, belonging to the faid Company, do give this writing, to wit; that having purchafed of the difpoffeffed Rajah, Tuljagee of Tanjore, the district of Cavaloor, confifting of 8 Magons, alfo Nagore,, Taptora, and the district of Turpondy, together with the Pefhcufh &c. and having now received from the Circar the amount of the faid purchase, we have delivered all thofe diftricts to the Circar, mention of which is alfo particularly made in the treaty, as is hereafter expreffed; conformable to which we have returned the said diftricts to the Circar, and give this engagement, that we have no demand on, or concern with the faid country. The amount of the five deeds, purporting the fale of the diftricts, and the amount purchafe of the Pefhcufh in money and elephants from the Circar, agreeable to the treaty we have received, Supplem. We therefore engage, that we will procure the faid deeds and faid receipts from Batavia, and deliver them to the Circar in June or July, 1774; in the performance of which, we are We have not to make ufe of any thifts or evafions. given this writing therefore as a Saned, and fign our names thereto, in order that it may be of service on occafion.

Soit notoire à tous et à chacun, qu'il appartiendra.

Le Traité conclu à Varfovie en 1773, entre Sa M. le Roi et la République de Pologne, et Sa M. l'Imperatrice Reine Apoftolique de Hongrie et de Bohème, n'ayant pas fixé d'une manière affés précife fur les limites de Leurs Etats, et les Commiffaires envoyés de part et d'autre en conformité du dit Traité pour regler la démarcation fur les lieux, n'ayant pas pu convenir, ni achever leur ouvrage, à caufe des difficultés furvenuës à l'égard de la differente interprétation des termes du II. Article de ce même Traité; Sa M. le Roi et la République de Pologne et Sa M. l'Imperatrice Reine Apoftolique ont vu avec une égale peine la continuation d'un differend auffi contraire à Leur intention, qu'aux liens de l'amitié, qui les uniffent, et à la parfaite intelligence, qu'elles defirent de maintenir et de perpétuer entre les Pays et Sujets de Leur domination. Pour prévenir donc. deformais toute conteftation pareille, et pour écarter à jamais tout fujet de difficulté par rapport auxdites limites, Sa M. l'imperatrice Reine Apoftolique ne confultant en cette occafion, que les mouvemens de Son Amitié inalterable pour Sa M. le Roi et la République de Pologne, s'eft portée à traiter à Varfovie des moyens d'un accommodement, par lequel, fans entrer de nouveau dans un long détail des discuffions fur tous les points conteftés, on convint de regler les limites de manière à affurer aux deux Hautes Parties contractantes, moyennant des compenfations réciproques, la poffeffion deformais tranquille et non difputée des terreins liti

En confequence et à fin de convenir d'un arrangement définitif et folide pour determiner d'une manière claire et exacte les limites refpectives des deux Etats, Sa M. le Roi de Pologne, de l'avis du Confeil Permanent, autorisé à cet effet, et chargé par les Etats Confédérés de la diète de 1773, de traiter et de conclure les demarcations avec les Puiffances Voifines, a nommé et deputé: André Stanislas Kotfka Miadzieiowski Evêque de Posnanie et de Varfovié G. Chancelier de la Couronne; Michel Pr. Radziwill Caftellan de Vilna; François Rzewufki Maréchal de la Couronne; Augufte Pr. Sulkowski Maréchal de l'Ordre Equeftre au Confeil Permanent; Hyacinthe Ogrodzki Grand Sécrétaire de la Couronne et du Département des affaires étrangères au Confeil Permanent: et Sa M. l'Imperatrice Reine Apoftolique a defigné et fpécialement autorifé le Baron Charles Rewiczky de Revisnye Commandeur de l'Ordre Royal de S. Etienne, Son Chambellan actuel, Envoyé Extraordinaire et Miniftre Plénipotentiaire à la Cour de Pologne. Lesquels Plénipotentiaires en vertu de leurs Pleinpouvoirs échangés et réconnus de part et d'autre pour fuffifans, après plufieurs conférences, qu'ils ont tenues ensemble, ont enfin accordé et arrêté les Articles fuivans.

Le Bog Quoique le Traité de ceffion conclu en 1773, ait defigné fervira de limite les limites des Pays cédés à Sa M. l'Imperatrice Reine au delà du Bug, par les limites mêmes de la Ruffie Rouge faifant auffi les limites de la Volhynie et de la" Podolie, Sa dite Majefté cede à Sa M, le Roi et la République de Pologne ce qu'elle a poffédé jusqu'ici, en: vertu du. dit Traité fur la rive droite du Bug, depuis Uscitug, ou Rozyampol jusqu'à la fortie de cette riviere des Confins de la Gallicie, de manière, que le Bug formera deformais une frontière naturelle depuis Hotubek, jusqu'au point, où il quitte les dits confins entre les Etats de Sa M. l'Imperatrice Reine et ceux de S. M. le Roi et la République de Pologne; bien entendu que la propriété de toute la rivière dans cette partie enfemble avec les Isles, demeurerà à Sa M. l'imperatrice Reine, fauf les ftipulations du dernier Traité de commerce, quant à la libre navigation et paffage, auffi bien que l'ufage des Moulins fur la rive droite, en tant que ces moulins ne porteront point de préjudice à la navigation,
