For it hath lien by me aboue these twelve yeeres. In all of which space though I have made much enquirie, and sent to Lisbon, where it seemeth it was printed, yet to this day I could neuer obtaine the originall copie; whereby I might reforme the manifold errours of the translator."

See Purchas his Pilgrimage, (Edition of 1625,) p. 817, where the author styles Sir Dudley "a great furtherer of the Northwest Discoverie," " and a learned and industrious gentleman."
