For behold I am for you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and sown : and I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, even all of it; † and the cities shall be inhabited, and the wastes shall be buildeil; and I will multiply upon you man and beast, and they shall increase and bring fruit : and I will setile you after your old estates, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings : and ye sball know that I am the

+ These words confine the meaning of this prophccy to the last days, for it never yet could be said since the dis. persion of Israel that all of them, even all were brought back to Palestine.
Lord. Yea, I will cause men, even my people Israel, to walk upon you ; and they shall possess thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance, and thou shalt no more henceforth bereave them of men : ....For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.... And I will put my spirit within you &c. and ye shall dwell in the land that I
gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people and I will be your God. Thus saith the Lord God; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities, I will also cause you to dwell in the cities; and the wastes shall be builded ; And the desolate land shall be tilled ; whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by: And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden: and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are in habited. Then the heathen that are left round about you
sball know that I the Lord build the ruined places, and plant that which was desolate : I the Lord have spoken it, and I will do it. Thus saith the Lord God, I will yet for this be enquired of by tbe house of Israel, to do it for them, I will increase them with men like a flock. As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts, so sball the waste cities be filled with flocks of men : and they shall know that I am the Lord. but we are assured that so far as respects Jerusalem, the Lord himself will be unto her as a wall of fire round about; therefore she will have need of none, whatever fences or omamental decorations she may be embellished with, though indeed there shall be none equal to that cause. ed by the radiance of his divine glory.

her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her. Zechariah ji. 4, 5.
And men shall dwell in it, and there shall be no more destruction ; but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited. Zechariah siv. 11.
And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, &c..... And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain. And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them: and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more* be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the Lord thy God.
Amos ix. 14, 16. I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sbeep of Bozrab, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men.
The breaker is come up before them: This line confines the meaning of this prophecy to the final restoration of Israel.
they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out of it: and their king shall pass before them, and (or even) the Lord, on the head of them.
Micah ii. 12, 13. But in the last days it shall come to pass that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. And many nations shall come, and say, come and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. ..
