Ezekiel xxxvii. 21, 22. Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness
leaning on her beloved? &c. Sol. Song viii. 5.

As I live, saith the Lord God, surely with a mighty hand and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you; And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured

out.

And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face. Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord God. And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the cove. nant: And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord. fortably unto her, And I WILL GIVE HER HER VINEYARDS FROM THENCE,* and the valley of Achor for a door of hope; and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt. And it shall be at that day saith the Lord, that thou shalt call me Ishi (Husband);—and I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness and in judgement, and in loving kindness, and in mercies, I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness. &c. Hosea ii. 14. 15. 16, 18, 19, 20.

And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them: for I have mercy upon them; and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the Lord their God, and will hear them. And they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man, and their heart shall rejoice as through wine; yea, their children shall see it and be glad; their heart shall rejoice in the Lord. * This is a very remarkable passage and hears a great resemblance to the circumstance of the Jews having been given the inheritance of Canaan before they entered it and while they were yet in the wilderness: The prophet Moses foretold of those days saying "The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thy brethren like unto me. Deut. xviii. 15. The Law came by Moses, as we read, Moses declares The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. Deut. v. 2.
