in the valley of Haman-Gog. And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah (the_multitude.) Thus shall they cleanse the land.

Ezekiel xxxix. 1—16.

And thou son of man, thus saith the Lord God; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field. Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood. Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan. And ye shall eat fat till ye be fall, &c.

Ezekiel xxxix. 17, 18, 19.

And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. Rev. xix. 17, 18. Assemble yourselves and come, all ye heathen; and gather yourselves together round about. Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe; come get you down; for the press is full, the vats over-flow; for their wickedness

is great. Multitudes, multitudes in the valley. of decision! for the day of the Lord is near in valley of decision. Joel iii. 11-14.

Behold the day of the Lord cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee, For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall, go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Zechariah xiv. 1, 2.

Now also many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion But they know not the thoughts of the Lord, neither understand they his counsels for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor. Arise and thresh, O. Daughter of Zion: for I will make thy horn. iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass; and thou shalt beat in pieces many people and I will consecrate their gain unto the Lord, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth. Micah iv. 11–13.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the Lord shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour. And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold and silver and apparel in great abundance.. Zechariah xiv. 13, 14,.

And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people, as a Lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young Lion among the flocks of sheep; who, if he go through, both treadeth down and teareth in pieces and none can deliver. Micah v. 8. And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come.

Joel ii. 30, 31. The sun and the moon shall be darkened. and the stars shall withdraw their shining.

Joel iii. 15.

For behold, the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

Isaiah xxvi. 21.

For behold, The Lord cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth. And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place. Micah i. 3, 4. Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousand of his saints, to execute judgement upon all, see page 31. Jude 14. He shall appear to your joy, and they shall

be ashamed. A voice of noise from the city; a voice from the temple: A voice of the Lord that rendereth recompence to his enemies.... shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once, for as soon as Zion travailed she brought forth her children. Isaiah lxvi. 5, 6, 7.

3.-The glorious appearing of our Lord, at his Second Advent, more particularly pointed out.

And then shall they see the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.* And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Matt. xxiv. 30, 31. When the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flame

ing fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thess. i. 7, 8. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the Archangel and with the Trump of God: Thess. iv. 16.

And the Lord shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire. Isa. xxx.30.

The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man. he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war, be shall cry, yea roar he shall prevail against his enemies, &c. Isaiah xlii. 13.

The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the Lord will be The Hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. Joel iii. 16.

Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north and half of it toward the south. And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azel: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before
