T. Among riotous eaters of flesh.

S. For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty.

Who hath woe?

S. Who hath sorrow?

T. Who hath contentions?

S. Who hath babblings?

T. Who hath wounds without cause?
S. Who hath redness of eyes?

T. They that tarry long at the wine;

S. They that go to seek mixed wine.

T. Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his color in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.

S. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.

EXERCISE XXI.

LIVING WATER.

Teacher. Because I will publish the name of the Lord, my doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass.

School. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only, in the name of a disciple,

T. Verily, I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

S. But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him,

T. Shall never thirst;

S. The water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water,

T. Springing up into everlasting life.

S. I will give unto him that is athirst, of the fountain of the water of life, freely.

T. The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. S. Our goodness is as the morning cloud, and as the early dew it goeth away.

T. I will be as the dew unto Israel.

S. He shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.

T. I am the good Shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

S. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures, he leadeth me beside the still waters.

T. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters.

S. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

All. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come.

And let him that heareth say, Come.

And let him that is athirst come,

And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

EXERCISE XXII.

GREATNESS AND GOODNESS OF GOD.

PSALM CXLV.

Teacher. I will extol thee, my God, O King. School. I will bless thy name for ever and ever. T. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; S. And his greatness is unsearchable.

T. One generation shall praise thy works to another,

S. And shall declare thy mighty acts.

T. I will speak of the glorious honor of thy majesty,

S. And of thy wondrous works.

T. And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts;

S. And I will declare thy greatness.

T. They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness,

S. And shall sing of thy righteousness.

T. The Lord is gracious and full of compassion.

S. Slow to anger and of great mercy.
T. The Lord is good to all:

S. And his tender mercies are over all his works.

T. All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord, and thy saints shall bless thee.

S. They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power.

T. Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, S. And thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.

T. The Lord upholdeth all that fall,

S. And raiseth up all that be bowed down.
T. The eyes of all wait upon thee,

S. And thou givest them their meat in due

season.

T. Thou openest thy hand,

S. And satisfiest the desire of every living thing.

T. The Lord is righteous in all his ways,
S. And holy in all his works.

T. The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him,

S. To all them that call upon him in truth. All. My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord; and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.

EXERCISE XXIII.

PROVERBS FOR THE TONGUE, LIPS, HAND, &c.

School. Death and life are in the power of the tongue :

Teacher. And they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

S. Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue, T. Keepeth his soul from trouble.

S. Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: T. So where there is no talebearer the strife ceaseth.

S.

strife:

It is an honor for a man to cease from

T. But every fool will be meddling.

S. He that covereth a transgression seeketh love :

T. But he that repeateth a matter, separateth friends.

S. Debate thy cause with thy neighbor himself:

T.

And discover not a secret to another.

S.

Bread of deceit is sweet to a man,

T. But afterward his mouth shall be filled with gravel.
