Integrative Alexander Technique Practice for Performing Artists: Onstage Synergy

Intellect Ltd, 2014 - 389 sidor

"Integrative Alexander Technique"introduces the practice of integrating the Alexander Technique and the performing arts. Its iterative process involves using investigative tools to support highly skilled excitation in service of the extra-ordinary. Performance practices common to theatre, music, and dance are redefined through examination of all elements of human coordination.

Based on Madden s empirical research as a teacher and coach for over 35 years, common concerns concentration, relaxation, discipline-specific techniques, warm-ups, performer/audience relationships, stage fright, and critical responses are challenged and redefined. Empirical research is supplemented by information from other relevant fields, including the role of the senses, emotions, learned behaviour, human consciousness studies and neuroscience. Principles from acting techniques are applied to all of the arts covered, providing a structure for relating coordination and communication. Teaching stories vividly demonstrate how to accomplish the tasks described.

"Integrative Alexander Technique"is an invitation to artists to create their own personal pedagogy a psychophysically-reasoned approach to mastery.
