And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe to the inhabiters of the earth, by

reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound! chap. viii. 13.

VER. 13.

Καὶ ὅτε εἶδεν ὁ δράκων ὅτι ἐβλήθη εἰς τὴν γῆν, ἐδίωξε τὴν γυναῖκα ἥτις ἔτεκε τὸν ἄῤῥενα.

And when a the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, bhe persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

VER. 14.

a And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for ab time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

a So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet-coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns, chap. xvii. 3.

b And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws : and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time, Dan. vii. 25. Καὶ ἔβαλεν ὁ ὄφις ὀπίσω τῆς γυναικὸς ἐκ τοῦ στόματος αὑτοῦ ὕδωρ ὡς ποταμέν, ἵνα ταύτην ποταμοφόρητον ποιήσῃ.

a And the serpent cast out of his mouth might cause her to be carried away of water as a food after the woman, that he the flood.

Καὶ ἐβοήθησεν ἡ γῆ τῇ γυναικὶ, καὶ ἤνοιξεν ἡ γῆ τὸ στόμα αὐτῆς, καὶ κατέπιε τὸν ποταμὸν ὃν ἔβαλεν ὁ δράκων ἐκ τοῦ στόματος αὑτοῦ.

a And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

4 Thus saith the Lord Gop, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders. And kings shall be thy nursing-fathers, and their queens thy nursing-mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet, Isa. xlix. 22, 23.

Καὶ ἐδόθη αὐτῷ πόλεμον ποιῆσαι μετὰ τῶν ἁγίων, καὶ νικῆσαι αὐτούς· καὶ ἐδόθη αὐτῷ ἐξουσία ἐπὶ πᾶσαν φυλὴν καὶ γλῶσ σαν καὶ ἔθνος.

a And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them, chap. xi. 7. I beheld, and the same

horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them, Dan. vii. 21. And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people, viii.

VER. 8.

Καὶ προσκυνήσουσιν αὐτῷ πάντες οἱ και τοικοῦντες ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, ὧν οὐ γέγραπται τὰ ὀνόματα ἐν τῇ βίβλω τῆς ζωῆς τοῦ ἀρτίου ἐσφαγμένου, ἀπὸ καταβολῆς κόσμου.

And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, (whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world,) when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is, xvii. 8.

Καὶ ἐδόθη αὐτῷ στόμα λαλοῦν μεγάλα καὶ βλασφημίας, καὶ ἐδόθη αὐτῷ ἐξουσία | ποιῆσαι μῆνας τεσσαράκοντα δύο.

a And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

a I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things, Dan. vii. 8. Ibeheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake : I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame, 11. And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done. Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all, xi. 36, 37. Καὶ ἄνοιξε τὸ στόμα αὑτοῦ εἰς βλασφη μίαν πρὸς τὸν Θεὸν, βλασφημῆσαι τὸ ὄνο μα αὐτοῦ, καὶ τὴν σκηνὴν αὐτοῦ, καὶ τοὺς ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ σκηνοῦντας·

And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

Καὶ τὴν ἐξουσίαν τοῦ πρώτου θηρίου πᾶς σαν ποιεῖ ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ, καὶ ποιεῖ τὴν γῆν

καὶ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας ἐν αὐτῇ ἵνα προσκυνήσωσι τὸ θηρίον τὸ πρῶτον, οὗ ἐθεραπεύθη ἡ πληγὴ τοῦ θανάτου αὐτοῦ.

a And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

VER. 17.

Καὶ ἵνα μή τις δύνηται ἀγοράσαι ἡ πως λῆσαι, εἰ μὴ ὁ ἔχων τὸ χάραγμα, ἢ τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ θηρίου, ἢ τὸν ἀριθμὸν τοῦ ὀνόματ τις αὐτοῦ.

And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

VER. 14.

Καὶ πλανᾷ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς διὰ τὰ σημεῖα ἃ ἐδόθη αὐτῷ ποιῆσαι ἐνώπιον τοῦ θηρίου· λέγων τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, ποιῆσαι εἰκόνα τῷ θηρίῳ ὃ ἔχει τὴν πληγὴν τῆς μαχαῖρας, καὶ ἔζησε.

a And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast ; saying to them that dwell on

a Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man ; and his number is Sir hundred threescore and sir.

a And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth, chap. xvii. 9.

CHAP. XIV.VER. 1. Καὶ εἶδον, καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀρνίον ἑστηκὸς ἐπὶ τὸ ὄρος Σιῶν, καὶ μετ' αὐτοῦ ἑκατὸν τεστ σαρακοντατέσσαρες χιλιάδες, ἔχουσαι τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ γεγραμμένον ἐπὶ τῶν μετώπων αὑτῶν.

a And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: d and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.

VER. 4.

Οὗτοί εἰσιν οἱ μετά γυναικῶν οὐκ ἐμε λύνθησαν· παρθένοι γάς εἰσιν. Οὗτοί εἰσιν οἱ ἀκολοθοῦντες τῷ ἀρνίῳ ὅπου ἂν ὑπάγη. Οὗτοι ηγοράσθησαν ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ἀπαρχὴ τῷ Θεῷ καὶ τῷ ἀρνία,

These are they which were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. a These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were *redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. * Gr. bought.

VER. 5.

• And in their mouth was found no guile for b they are without fault before the throne of God.

Καὶ εἶδον ἄλλον ἄγγελον πετώμενον ἐν μεσουρανήματι, ἔχοντα εὐαγγέλιον αἰώ νιον, εὐαγγελίσαι τοὺς κατοικοῦντας ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, καὶ πᾶν ἔθνος καὶ φυλὴν καὶ γλῶσσαν καὶ λαόν.
