But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

74. Why is the Third Person called the spirit of glory and of God

the Spirit of God?

(a) Expresses His Divinity:

I COR. ii.

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

13 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are

resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

75. Why is the Third Person called the Spirit of Christ?

(a) The form of expression is identical in the several phrases. Spirit of God, and Spirit of the Son, and as the Scriptures with one exception (John xv. 26) uniformly predicate every thing of the relapredicate of the relation of the Spirit to tion of the Spirit to the Son, that they the Father; it appears evident that He is called Spirit of the Son for the same reason that He is called Spirit of God:

And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
