THE

WORKS

OF

3-09

LORD BYRON:

WITH

HIS LETTERS AND JOURNALS,

AND HIS LIFE,

BY THOMAS MOORE, ESQ.

IN SEVENTEEN VOLUMES.

VOL. XIII.

LONDON:

JOHN MURRAY, ALBEMARLE STREET.

THIS Volume consists of four pieces, written, two of them at Ravenna in 1821, the others at Pisa in 1822.

When this Edition was first announced, nothing more was designed than an exact reprint of Mr. Moore's Notices, and Lord Byron's Works in prose and verse, as they had previously been given to the public; and the printer calculated that the whole might be comprised in fourteen volumes.

While, however, the Notices of Lord Byron's Life were for the second time passing through the press, it was suggested to the Publisher, that the time was come when the Public had a right to look for such notes and illustrations to Lord Byron's text, as are usually appended to the pages of a deceased author of established and permanent popularity. This suggestion was

acted upon; and its adoption has, apparently,
given general satisfaction. These additions
will extend the Work to seventeen volumes;
the last of which will include a very copious
and careful Index to the whole collection.

London, December 12. 1832.
