When CHRIST fuftain'd the Stroke! His Life, and Blood, the Shepherd pays, 17 A Ranfom for the Flock.

O'er all the Sons of Men,

And make him fee a num'rous Seed,
To recompenfe his Pain.

Rom. viii. 14, 16. Eph. 13, 14-

WHY fhould the Children of a King

Go mourning all their Days?'

Great Comforter! defcend and bring
Some Tokens of thy Grace.

2 Doft thou not dwell in all the Saints,
And feal the Heirs of Heav'n?
When wilt thou banifh my Complaints,
And fhew my Sins forgiv'n ?

3 Affure my Conscience of her Part
In the Redeemer's Blood;

And bear thy Witnefs with my Heart,
That I am born of GoD.

4 Thou art the Earneft of his Love,
The Pledge of Joys to come:

And thy foft Wings, celeftial Dove,

A thousand Glories more

Than the rich Gems and polifh'd Gold
The Sons of Aaron wore.

2 They first their own Burnt-off rings brought,

To purge

themselves from Sin.

Thy Life was pure without a Spot,
And all thy Nature clean.

[3 Fresh Blood, as conftant as the Day,
Was on their Altar spilt;

But thy one Offring takes away
For ever all our Guils.]

[4 Their Priesthood ran thro' fev'ral Hands, For mortal, was their Race:

Thy never-changing Office stands,
Eternal as thy Days.]

[5 Once in the Circuit of a Year,

With Blood, but not his own, besab al Aaron within the Vail appears Tzodes; Before the golden Throne.

6 But CHRIST by his own pow'rful Blood,
Afcends above the Skies,
And in the Prefence of our Gop
Shews his own Sacrifice.]

7 JESUS, the King of Glory, reigns
On Sion's heav'nly Hill;

Looks like a Lamb that has been slain,
And wears his Priesthood ftill.
