3 Yet with my GoD I leave my Cause,
And truft his promis'd Grace;
He rules me by his well-known Laws
Of Love and Righteousness.

4 Not all the Pains that e'er bore
Shall fpoil my future Peace;
For Death and Hell can do no more
Than what my Father please.

LXXXIV. Salvation, Righteoufnefs, and
Strength in CHRIST, Ifa. xlv. 21-25.

JE

EHOVAH fpeaks, let Ifr'el hear, Let all the Earth rejoice and fear, While God's eternal Son proclaims His Sov'reign Honours and his Names: 2 “I am the Laft, and I the First, "The SAVIOUR-GOD, and GOD the Juft; "There's none befide pretends to fhew "Such Juftice and Salvation too.

[g Ye that in Shades of Darkness dwell, "Juft on the Verge of Death and Hell, "Look up to me from diftant Lands,

4

« Light, Life, and Heav'n are in my Hands.

"I by my holy Name have fworn,

"Nor fhall the Word in vain return,

"To me fhall all Things bend the Knee,
"And ev'ry Tongue fhall fwear to me.]

5

"In me alone shall Men confefs "Lies all their Strength and Righteousness: "But fuch as dare despise my Name,

"I'll clothe them with eternal Shame. 6" In me, the LORD, fhall all the Seed "Of Ifr'el from their Sins be freed, "And by their fhining Graces prove. "Their Înt'reft in my pard'ning Love."

LXXXV. The fame.

THis Godhead from his Throne;
HE LORD on high proclaims

"Mercy and Justice are the Names

66

By which I will be known.

2 "Ye dying Souls that fit

"In Darkness and Diftrefs,

"Look from the Borders of the Pit "To my recov'ring Grace."

3 Sinners fhall hear the Sound;

Their thankful Tongues fhall own, Our Righteousness and Strength is found "In thee, the LORD, alone."

4 In Thee fhall Ifr'el truft,

And fee their Guilt forgiv'n;

LXXXVI. GOD Holy, Juft, and Sovereign,

HOW

Job ix. 2-10.

fhould the Sons of Adam's Race

Be pure

before their GOD!

If he contend in Righteousness,

We fall beneath his Rod.

2 To vindicate my Words and Thoughts
I'll make no more Pretence;
Not one of all my thousand Faults
Can bear a juft Defence.

3 Strong is his Arm, his Heart is wife;
What vain Prefumers dare
Against their Maker's Hand to rise,
Or tempt th' unequal War?

[4 Mountains by his Almighty Wrath
From their old Seats are torn;

5

He shakes the Earth, from South to North, And all her Pillars mourn.

He bids the Sun forbear to rife;

Th' obedient Sun forbears:

His Hand with Sackcloth fpreads the Skies,
And feals up all the Stars.

6 He walks upon the ftormy Sea;
Flies on the ftormy Wind:

There's none can trace his wond'rous Way,
Or his dark footsteps find.]

LXXXVII. GOD dwells with the Humble and Penitent, Ifa. lvii. 15, 16.

TH

HUS faith the high and lofty Onej
σε I fit upon my holy Throne ;
"My Name is GOD; I dwell on high;
"Dwell in my own Eternity.

"But I defcend to Worlds below;
"On Earth I have a Mansion too;
"The humble Spirit and contrite
"Is an Abode of my Delight.

"The humble Soul my Words revive;
"I bid the mourning Sinner live;
"Heal all the broken Hearts I find,
"And ease the Sorrows of the Mind.

"When I contend against their Sin, "I make them know how vile they've been ; "But fhould my Wrath for ever smoke, "Their Souls would fink beneath my Stroke.”

5 O may thy pard'ning Grace be nigh,
Left we should faint, despair, and die!
Thus fhall our better Thoughts approve
The Methods of thy chaft'ning Love.]

LXXXVIH.

LXXXVIII Life the Day of Grace and Hope,
Ecclef. ix. 4, 5, 6, 10.

IFE is the Time to serve the LORD,

LIFE is to great Reward;

And while the Lamp holds out to burn,
The vileft Sinner may return, 5
[2 Life is the Hour that God hath giv'n,
To fcape from Hell and fly to Heav'n
The Day of Grace, and Mortals may
Secure the Bleffings of the Day.]

3 The Living know that they must dié s
But all the Dead forgotten lie;
Their Mem❜ty and their Senfe is gone,
Alike unknowing and unknown.

[4 Their Hatred and their Love is loft,
Their Envy bury'd in the Duft;
They have no Share in all that's done
Beneath the Circuit of the Sun.}

5 Then what my Thoughts defign to do,
My Hands, with all your Might purfue;
Since no Device nor Work is found,
Nor Faith, nor Hope, beneath the Ground.

There are no Acts of Pardon past

In the cold Grave to which we hafte;
But Darkness, Death and long Defpair,
Reign in eternal Silence there.
