4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that
should come upon him, went forth, and
said unto them, Whom seek ye?

reth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he.
And Judas also, which betrayed him,
stood with them.

6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

thou a king then? Jesus answered. Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end 12 was I born, and for this cause came 112 into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. 38 Pilate saith unto him. What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all. 39 But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

7 The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by Bourẞ law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God. 8 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;

9 And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou But Jesus gave him no answer. 10 Then saith Pilate unto him, Speak est thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?

11 Jesus answered, Thou ẞcouldest haveß no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

12 And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Cæsar's friend: whosoever maki Acts 17.7. eth himself a king speaketh against Cæsar.

His crucifixion and death.

15 But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith DOMINI unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, 'We have no king but Cæsar.

16 Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they *took Jesus, B and led him away B.

17 And he bearing his cross • went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:

18 Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

19 And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.

20 This title then read many of the Jews for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city and it was written in Hebrew, and B Greek, and Latin B.

21 Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not. The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.

22 Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.

CHAPTER 21.

AFTER these things Jesus Ishewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shew-him the third time, Lovest thou me? ed he himself. And he said unto him, Lord, thou k ch. 2. 24, knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my y sheepy.

2 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and a Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.

4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. 5 3 Then 3 d Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.

6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. 3 Now 3 when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.

8 And the other disciples came in 2a2 little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes.

9 As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and 4 fish laid thereon, and bread *.

10 Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.

11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.

12 Jesus saith unto them. Come and 5 dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.
