ART. I. His Britannick Majefty engages to pay to the Hanoverian Government, a fubfidy of eleven pounds two fhillings per man, for the fervice of the year ending on the rft. of April 1816, to the number of 26,400 men. This fubfidy fhall be paid in London, at the end of each month. by monthly inftalments, to the perfon duly authorifed to receive the fame on the part of the Hanoverian Government. This Treaty beginning to be in force from the twenty-fifth of May laft.

In cafe Peace should take place or be figned between the Allied Powers and France, before the expiration of the faid year, the fubfidy fhall be paid up to the end of the month in which the definitive Treaty fhall have been figned: and His Britannick Majefty promises, in addition, to pay to the Hanoverian Government the fubfidy of one month, to cover the expenses of the return of the troops within the Hanoverian frontier.

ART. II. The Minifter of Hanover in London, fhall concert with the officers of His Britannick Majefty, as to the mode moft convenient for the transmiffion of the money for the ufe of the Hanoverian Government.

Additional Articles.

ART. I. Whereas His Royal Highness the Prince

Regent, in the name and on behalf of His Majesty the King of Hanover, has agreed to contribute,, for the common caufe, the continued fervices of 16,400 men, beretofore fubfidized by Great Britain, over and above the contingent of 10,000 men; and as the rate of eleven pounds two fhillings per man, paid in London, is infufficient to defray the expenfe of this additional corps, His Royal Highnefs the Prince Regent, acting in the name and on behalf of His Majefty the King of the Uni ted Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, agrees to pay monthly to Hanover, fuch fum as fhall be found to cover the actual expense to Hannover of the above men tioned 16,400 men.

ART. II. The commanding Officer of the faid Army 1815 fhall give in to the Comptroller of Army Accounts with the British Army, monthly, an estimate of the expense incurred, including pay and other allowances to the Officers and troops, and contingent expenfes of all defcriptions. The amount of this eftimate, which fhall exceed the fum of eleven pounds two fhillings per man, paid in London for the 16,400 men, after having been examined and checked, fhall be paid to the Hanoverian military cheft with the army.

ART. III. Hanover fhall be at no expenfe for provifions or hofpitals for the officers and troops of this corps of 16,400 men, and the British Government shall be entitled to receive the ftoppage of eigteen pfennigs per diem, which is ufually deducted from the pay of every non-commiffioned officer, musician, and private, while in hofpital.

ART. IV. Allarms, accoutrements, camp-kettles, and other military effects belonging to the said corps, which may be loft, or become unferviccable during the exiftence of this Treaty, fhall be replaced at the expenfe of Great Britain.

The British Government fhall likewife make good to individuals, the amount of their perfonal loffes, to which they may be entitled according to the regula tions of the Hanoverian army, fuch loffes being firft inveftigated, ascertained, and certified by a Board of Hanoverian Officers, whofe proceedings, and the regu lations by which they are governed, are to be fubmitted to the Comptroller of Army Accounts.

ART. V. In order to cover all the expense which the Hanoverian Government would have to defray in maintaining the faid corps of troops in an efficient ftate for fervice, it is agreed that the British Government fhall pay

The existence of these loffes, as alfo that they have been made good, must be ascertained every month by a Board of British and Hanoverian Officers, whofe Report fhall be laid before the Comptroller of Army Accounts.

ART. VI. Such of the officers, non-commiffioned officers, muficians and privates, belonging to the corps of 16,400 men, as may become difabled, or rendered unfit for fervice, by wounds or by other cafualties hap-. pening to them, whilft actually in British fubfidy, fhall be allowed the ufual Hanoverian penfion, at the expense of Great Britain; which faid penfions are moreover to be paid to them in their own country, upon authentic and fatisfactory certificates of their existence and indentity being, from time to time, produced by His Maje. fty's Hanoverian Chancery of War.

ART. VII. The Hanoverian Army being, in the month of January next, entitled to clothing for the year 1816, Great Britain engages to pay to Hanover a compenfation for fuch clothing, for the time it may continue in British fubfidys

ART. VIII. The provifions of these Articles are to continue in force till the corps shall actually return to Hanover.

Treaty of fubfidy (with eight Additional Articles) between His Majefty and the Brunswick Government, figned at Paris 28th. August 1815.

His Serene Highness the late Duke of Brunswick and

Luneburg, having by a Treaty figned at Vienna on the 27th. April 1815, acceded to the Treaty of General Alliance figned at the fame place on the 25th, of March laft, by the Plenipotentiaries of Great Britain, Auftria, Ruffia and Pruffia, and having engaged to employ in the field a contingent of 3,000 men, but having actually brought into the field a corps of 7149 men; and His Royal Highnefs the Prince Regent, acting in the name and on the behalf of His Majefty the King of Great Britain and Ireland, being defirous, as far as may be in His power, to affift the Brunswick Government, in order to enable them to carry into execution the engagements contracted by His Serene Highnefs the late Duke of Brunswick, has named his Grace the Duke of Wellington etc. etc.; and His Royal Highness the Prince Regent, in his capacity of Tutor of the Minor Duke and Regent of the Dukedom of Brunswick, has named his Excellency Count Munfter, in order to discule and fettle the terms on which the said affiftance fhould be given; who, having communicated to each other their res fpective full powers, have agreed to the following Articles:

In cafe Peace fhould take place between the Allied Powers and France before the expiration of the faid year, the fubfidy fhall be paid up to the end of the month in which the Definitive Treaty, fhall have been figned; and His Britannick Majefty promifes, in addition, to pay to the Brunswick Government the fubfidy of one month, to cover the expenfe of the return of the troops within the Brunswick frontier.
