Of tithes. The year of jubile. 22 Thou shalt truly tithe all the increafe as he promised thee, and thou shalt lend un of thy feed, that the field bringeth forth to many nations, but thou shalt not bor year by year. row and thou shalt reign over many na tions, but they fhall not reign over thee.

23 And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choofe to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oyl, and the firftlings of thy herds, and of thy Blocks that thou mayeft learn to fear the LORD thy God always.

24 And if the way be too long for thee, fo that thou art not able to carry it, or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God fhall choose to fet his Name there, when the LORD thy God hath bleffed thee:

25 Then fhalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand,and halt go unto the place which the LORD thy God fhall choose.

26 And thou fhalt beftow that money, for whatsoever thy foul lufteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for ftrong drink, or for whatfoever thy foul defireth and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoyce, thou and thine houthold.

27 And the Levite that is within thy gates, thou shalt not forfake him: for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.

28 At the end of three years thou fhalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increafe the fame year, and fhall lay it up within thy gates.

29 And the Levite (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee) and the ftranger, and the fatherlefs, and the widow which are within thy gates, fhall come, and fhall eat, and be fatisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doeft. CHAP. XV.

A

T the end of every feven years thou fhalt make a release.

2 And this is the manner of the releafe: Every creditour that lendeth ought unto his neighbour, fhall releafe it, he fhall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother, because it is called the LORDS releafe.

3 Of a foreigner thou mayeft exact it again: but that which is thine with thy brother, thine hand fhall releafe:

4 Save when there fhall be no poor among you for the LORD fhall greatly bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to poffefs it:

s Only if thou carefully hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to oberve to do all thefe commandments which command thee this day.

6 For the LORD thy God blefleth thee,

7 If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren, within any of thy gates, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not hardei thy heart, nor fhut thine hand from th poor brother:

8 But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and fhalt furely lend him fuf ficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.

9 Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, faying, The feventh year, the year of releafe is at hand: and thine eye be evil againft thy poor bro ther, and thou giveft him nought, and he cry unto the LORD against thee, and it be fin unto thee.

10 Thou shalt furely give him, and thine heart fhall not be grieved whet thou giveft unto him: becaufe that for this thing the LORD thy God fhall blefs thee in all thy works, and in all that thou putteft thine hand unto.

II For the poor shall never ceafe out of the land: therefore I command thee, fay ing, Thou shalt open thine hand wid unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to th needy, in thy land.

12 And if thy brother an Hebrew man or an Hebrew woman, be fold unt thee, and ferve thee fix years; then it the feventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee.

14 Thou fhalt furnish him liberally ou of thy flock, and out of thy floor, and ou of thy wine-prefs: of that wherewith th LORD thy God hath bleffed thee, thot fhalt give unto him.

16 And it fhall be if he fay unto thee, 1 will not go away from thee (becaufe loveth thee and thine houfe, because b is well with thee)

18 It fhall not feem hard unto thee when thou fendeft him away free from thee, for he hath been worth a double hired fervant to thee, in ferving thee

19 All the firftling males that come of thy herd, and of thy flock, thou shalt fan&ife unto the LORD thy God: thou shalt do no work with the firftling of thy bullock, nor fhear the firftling of thy fheep.

20 Thou shalt eat it before the LORD thy God year by year, in the place which the LORD fhall choose, thou and thy houThold.

21 And if there be any blemish therein, if it be lame, or blind, or have any ill blemith, thou shalt not facrifice it unto the LORD thy God.

22 Thou shalt eat it within thy gates: the unclean and the clean perfon fhall eat italike, as the roe-buck, and as the hart. 23 Only thou shalt not eat the blood thereof: thou shall pour it upon the ground

as water.

CHAP. XVI.

To And thou shalt keep the feaft of weeks unto the LORD thy God with a tribute of a free-will-offering of thine hand, which thou shalt give unto the LORD thy God, according as the LORD thy God hath bleffed thee.

II And thou fhalt rejoyce before the LORD thy God, thou, and thy fon, and thy daughter, and thy man-fervant, and thy maid-fervant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the ftranger, and the fatherlefs, and the widow that are among you, in the place which the LORD thy God hath chofen to place his name there.

12 And thou shalt remember that thou waft a bond-man in Egypt; and thou fhalt obferve and do thefe ftatutes.

13 Thou shalt obferve the feaft of tabernacles feven days, after that thou haft gathered in thy corn and thy wine. rejoyce in

4 And there fhall be no leavened bread feen with thee in all thy coafts feven days, neither fhall there any thing of the flesh which thou facrificed ft the firft day at even, remain all night until the morning,

Thou mayeft not facrifice the pafover within any of thy gates, which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

6 But at the place which the LORD thy God fhall choose to place his name in,there thou shalt facrifice the paffover at even, at the going down of the fun, at the feafon that thou cameft forth out of Egypt.

7 And thou shalt roaft and eat it in the place which the LORD thy God fhall choofe: and thou fhalt turn in the morning, and go unto thy tents.

8 Six days thou halt eat unleavened bread, and on the feventh day fhall be a folemn affembly to the LORD thy God: thou shalt do no work therein.

9¶Seven weeks fhalt thou number unto thee: begin to number the feven

6 Three times in a year ball all thy males appear before the LORD thy God, in the place which he fhall choose: in the feaft of unleavened bread, and in the feaft of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they fhall not appear before the LORD empty.

17 Every man hall give as he is able according to the bleffing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee.

18 Judges and officers fhalt thou make thee in all thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee throughout the tribes: and they hall judge the people with juft judgment.

19 Thou shalt not wreft judgment,' thou shalt not refpect perfons, neither take a gift: for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wife, and pervert the words of the righteous.

20 That which is altogether juft sale thou follow, that thou mayeft live, and inherit the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee."

21 Thou shalt not plant thee a grove of any trees near unto the altar of the LORD thy God, which thou shalt make thee.

Idolaters must be flain.

Deuteronomy. The election and duty of a king

22 Neither halt thou fet thee up any judge, even that man shall die: and thou image which the LORD thy God hateth. fhalt put away the evil from Ifrael. 13 And all the people fhall hear, and fear, and do no more prefumptuously.

CHAP. XVII.

Toy God may bullock, of theep Hou fhalt not facrifice unto the LORD wherein is blemish, or any evil-favourednefs: for that is an abomination unto the LORD thy God.

2. If there be found among you within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman that hath wrought wickedness in the fight of the LORD thy God, in tranfgreffing his Covenant,

3 And hath gone and ferved other gods, and worshipped them, either the fun, or moon, or any of the hoft of heaven, which I have not commanded,

4 And it be told thee, and thou haft heard of it, and enquired diligently, and behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that fuch abomination is wrought in Ifrael: 5 Then fhalt thou bring forth that man or that woman (which have committed that wicked thing) unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and fhall ftone them with ftones till they die.

6 At the mouth of two witneffes, or three witneffes, fhall he that is worthy of death be put to death, but at the mouth of one witness he fhall not be put to death.

7 The hands of the witneffes fhall be firft upon him, to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people: fo thou shalt put the evil away from among

you.

8 If there arife a matter too hard for thee in judgment, between blood and blood,between plea and plea,and between ftroak and ftroak, being matters of controverfie within thy gates: then fhalt thou arife, and get thee up into the place which

the LORD thy God hall choose into the priefts the Levites, and unto the judge that fhall be in thofe days, and enquire, and they hall fhew thee the fentence of judgment.

10 And thou shalt do according to the fentence which they of that place (which the LORD fhall choofe) fhall fhew thee, and thou shalt obferve to do according to all that they inform thee:

11 According to the fentence of the law which they shall teach thee, and according to the judgment which they fhall tell thee, thou shalt do: thou shalt not decline from the fentence which they fhall fhew thee, to the right hand nor to the left.

12 And the man that will do presumptuoufly, and will not hearken unto the prieft (that ftandeth to minifter there be

17 Neither thall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: nei ther fhall he greatly multiply to himfeli filver and gold.

18 And it fhall be when he fitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he thall write him a copy of this law in a book, out of that which is before the priests the Levites.

19 And it fhall be with him, and h fhall read therein all the days of his life that he may learn to fear the LORD hi God, to keep all the words of this law and thefe ftatutes to do them:

20 That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not afide from the commandment to the right hand or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children in the midft of Ifrael.

CHAP. XVIII. Tribe if Levi, Levites, and all thi "He priefts the nor inheritance with Ifrael: they hail eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance.

2 Therefore fhall they have no inheritance among their brethren: the LORD is their inheritance, as he hath said unto them.

3¶ And this fhall be the priests due from the people, from them that offer facrifice, whether it be ox or sheep, and they fhall give unto the priest the fhoul der, and the two cheeks, and the maw.

4 The firft fruit alfo of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thy oyl, and the firft of the fleece of thy fheep halt thou give him.

s For the LORD thy God hath chofen him out of all thy tribes, to ftand to mi nifter in the name of the LORD, him and his fons for ever. 6¶ And

The cities of refuge.

21 And if thou fay in thine heart, How fhall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?

Chap. xix. 6¶ And if a Levite come from any of hy gates out of all Ifrael, where he fojourned, and come with all the defire of his mind unto the place which the LORD hall choofe;

7 Then he thall minifter in the name of the LORD his God, as all his brethren the Levites do, which fand there before the LORD.

! They shall have like portions to eat, befide that which cometh of the fale of his patrimony.

When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abomitations of thofe nations.

to There fhall not be found among you any one that maketh his fon or his daughter to país through the fire, or that useth divination, or an obferver of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,

11 Or a charmer, or a confulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necro

mancer.

12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and becaufe of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

13 Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.

14 For thefe nations which thou shalt possess, heartned unto obfervers of times, ind unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not fuffered thee fo To do.

Is The Loap thy God will raife up to thee a Prophet from the midft of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me, unto him ye shall hearken.

16 According to all that thou defiredit of the LORD thy God in Horeb, in the ay of the affembly, faying, Let me not ear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me fee this great fire ay more, that I die not.

17 And the LORD faid unto me, They are well boken that which they have fpoken.

22 When a prophet fpeaketh in the name of the LORD. if the thing follow. not, nor come to pafs, that is the thing which the LORD hath not fpoken, but the prophet hath spoken it prefumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

18 I will raife them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth, and he hall fpeak unto them all that I fhall comand him.

19 And it fhall come to pass, that who foever will not hearken unto my words which he hall fpeak in my name, I will require it of him.

CHA P. XIX.

SAs when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a ftroak with the ax to cut down the tree, and the head flipperh from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die, he shall flee unto one of thofe cities and live:

6 Left the avenger of the blood pursue the flayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, becaufe the way is long, and flay him, whereas he was not worthy of death, in as much as he hated him not in time paft.

7 Wherefore I command thee, faying, Thou fhalt feparate three cities for thee.

8. And if the LORD thy God enlarge thy coaft (as he hath fworn unto thy fathers) and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers,

9(If thou fhalt keep all these com mandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in his ways) then fhalt thou add three cities mo for thee,be fide thefe three:

10 That innocent blood be not shed in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and fo blood be upon thee.

11 But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rife up againft him, and fmite him mortally that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities:

20 B the prophet which fhall prefume to fpeak a word in my name, which I brve not commanded him to fpeak,or that all fpeak in the name of other gods, 12 Then the elders of his city fhall even that prophet hall die. fend and fetch him thence, and dell

15 One witnefs thall not rife up a gainst a man for any iniquity, or for any fin, in any fin that he finneth: at the mouth of two witneffes, or at the mouth of three witneffes hall the matter be eftablished.

16 If a falfe witnefs rife up against any man to teftifie against him that which is wrong:

17 Then both the men between whom the controverfie is, fhall ftand before the LORD, before the priests, and the judges which fhall be in those days.

18 And the judges fhall make diligent inquifition and behold, if the witnefs be a falfe witness, and hath teftified falfly againft his brother:

19 Then fhall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: fo halt thou put the evil away from among you.

20 And thofe which remain hall hear, and fear, and hall henceforth commit no more any fuch evil among you.

21 And thine eye fhall not pity, but If all go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

CHA P. XX.

With thine enemies, and feeft

Hen thou goeft out to battel a

horfes and chariots, and a people more than thou, be not afraid of them: for the LORD thy God is with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt., 2 And it fhall be when ye are come nigh unto the battel, that the prieft fhall approach and fpeak unto the people.

3 And fhall fay unto them, Hear, O Ifrael, you approach this day unto battel against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, nei ther be ye terrified becaufe of them..

4 For the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you again your enemies, to fave you.

sAnd the officers mall fpeak unto the people, faying, What man is there that hath built a new houfe, and hath not dedicated it? let him go and return to his houfe, left he die in the battel, and another man dedicate it.

5. And what man is he that hath plant

7 And what man is there that hath trothed a wife, and hath not taken he let him go and return unto his hot left he die in battel, and another m take her.

8 And the officers fhall fpeak furth unto the people, and they fhall fay, Wh man is there that is fearful and faint-hea ed? let him go and return unto his hou left his brethrens heart faint as well as heart.

II And it fhall be, if it make thee fwer of peace, and open unto thee, th it fhall be that all the people that is fou therein, fhall be tributaries unto thee, a they fhall ferve thee.

12 And if it will make no peace w thee, but will make war against th then thou fhalt befiege it.

13 And when the LORD thy God h delivered it into thine hands, thou f finite every male thereof with the e of the fword.

14 But the women and the little on and the cattel, and all that is in the c even all the fpoil thereof, fhalt thou t unto thy felf: and thou shalt eat the f of thine enemies, which the LORD God hath given thee.

Is Thus halt thou do unto all the ci which are very far off from thee, wh are not of the cities of the fe nations.

16 Eut of the cities of these peo which the LORD thy God doth give t for an inheritance, thou shalt fave a nothing that breatheth:

17 But thou shalt utterly deftroy th namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the vites, and the Jebufites, as the LORD God hath commanded thee:

18 That they teach you not to do a all their abominations, which they h done unto their gods, fo fhould ye against the LORD your God.

19 When thou shalt befiege a ci long time, in making war againft it to it, thou shalt not deftroy the trees the by forcing an ax against them: for mayeft eat of them, and thou shalt nor them down (for the tree of the fiel mans life) to employ them in the fieg
