CHAP. XXI.

Fone be found flain in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee to poffels it, lying in the field, and it be not known who hath flain him:

2 Then thy elders and thy judges fhall come forth, and they fhall measure unto the cities which are round about him that Dain.

3 And it fhall be that the city which is next unto the flain man, even the elders of that city fhall take an heifer which hath been wrought with, and which hath not drawn in the yoke.

4 And the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer unto a rough valley, which is neither eared nor fown, and hall frike off the heifers neck there in the valley:

Be merciful, O LORD, unto thy peoIfrael, whom thou haft redeemed, and not innocent blood unto thy people ofreis charge. And the blood thall be forven them.

21 And all the men of his city fhall ftone him with ftones, that he die: fo fhalt thou put evil away from among you, and all Ifrael fhall hear and fear.

22 And if a man have committed a fin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree:

23 His body fhall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wife bury him that day (for he that is hanged, is accurfed of God) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

CHAP. XXII.
