3 And Mofes went up unto God, and X LORD called unto him out of the curtain, faying, Thus fhalt thou fay to ne houfe of Jacob, and tell the children fiftael;

4 Ye have feen what I did unto the gyptians, and how I bare you on eagles vings, and brought you unto my felf.

Now therefore, if ye will obey my oice indeed, and keep my covenant, hen ye fhall be a peculiar treasure unto he above all people: for all the earth is mine.

6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom priefts, and an holy nation. Thefe are he words which thou fhalt fpeak unto children of Ifrael.

And Mofes came and called for the alder of the people, and laid before their acer all these words which the LORD.commanded him.

8 And all the people answered together, and faid, All that the LORD hath fpoken, we will do. And Mofes returned the words of the people unto the LORD.

9 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Lo, come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the eople may hear when I fpeak with thee, nd believe thee for ever. And Mofes old the words of the people unto the

LORD.

10 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Go unto the people, and fanctifie them oday and to morrow, and let them wash heir cloaths,

II And be ready against the third day: or the third day the LORD will come town in the fight of all the people, upon mount Sinai.

12 And thou shalt fet bounds unto the people round about, faying, Take heed to your felves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of its whofoever toucheth the mount, fhall be furely pur to death.

13 There fhall not an hand touch it, but be thall furely be ftoned, or fhot through; whether it be beaft or man, it fhall not Eve: when the trumpet foundeth long, hey fhall come up to the mount.

44 And Mofes went down from the Count unto the people, and fanctified the ople, and they washed their cloaths. Is And he faid unto the people, Be reaagainft the third day: come not at May wives.

17 And Mofes brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they ftood at the nether part of the meunt.

18 And mount Sinai was altogether on a fmoak, because the LORD defcended upon it in fire: and the fmoak thereof afcended as the fmoak of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

19 And when the voice of the trumpet founded long, and waxed louder and louder, Mofes fpake, and God answered him by a voice.

20 And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Mofes up to the top of the mount, and Mofes went up.

21 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Go down, charge the people, left they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.

22 And let the priefts alfo which come near to the LORD, fanctifie themfelves,left the LORD break forth upon them.

23 And Mofes faid unto the LORD, The .people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedft us, faying, Set bounds about the mount, and fanctifie it.

24 And the LORD faid unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through, to come up unto the LORD, left he break forth upon them.

25 So Mofes went down unto the peo ple, and spake unto them. CHA P. XX. Nd God fpake all these words, fay

2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

s Thou shalt not bow down thy felf to them, nor ferve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, vifiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me:

6 And fhewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

11 For in fix days the LORD made heaven and earth, the fea, and all that in them is, and refted the feventh day: wherefore the LORD bleffed the fabbath-day, and hallowed it.

12 Honour thy father and thy mother; that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

13 Thou shalt not kill.

14 Thou shalt not commit adultery. 15 Thou shalt not steal.

16 Thou shalt not bear falfe witness againft thy neighbour.

17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbours houfe, thou shalt not covet thy neighbours wife, nor his man-fervant, nor his maidfervant, nor his ox, nor his afs, nor any thing that is thy neighbours

18 And all the people faw the thundrings, and the lightnings, and the noife of the trumpet, and the mountain fmoaking: and when the people faw it, they removed, and ftood afar off.

19 And they faid unto Mofes, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God fpeak with us, left we die.

20 And Mofes faid unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye fin not.

21 And the people ftood afar off, and Mofes drew near unto the thick darkness where God was. ●

22 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Thus thou fhalt fay unto the children of Ifrael, Ye have feen that I have talked with you from heaven.

23 Ye shall not make with me gods of filver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.

24 An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and halt facrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace-offerings, thy fheep, and thine oxen: In all places where I record my name, I will come unto thee, and I will blefs thee.

25 And if thou wilt make me an altar of ftone, thou shalt not build it of hewn ftone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou haft polluted it.

26 Neither halt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy naked nefs be mot difcovered thereon.

2 If thou buy an Hebrew fervant years he hall ferve: and in the feven fhall go out free for nothing.

3 If he came in by himself, he tha out by himself: if he were married, his wife fhall go out with him.

4 If his mafter have given him a v and the have born him fons or da ters, the wife and her children thal her mafters, and he shall go out by H self.

s And if the fervant fhall plainly f love my mafter, my wife, and my dren, will not go out free:

6 Then his mafter fhall bring him the judges, he fhall alfo bring him to door, or unto the door-poft: and his fter fhall bore his ear through with awl, and he shall ferve him for ever

7 And if a man fell his daughte be a maid-fervant, she shall not go ou the men-fervants do.

8 If the please not her mafter, who h betrothed her to himself, then fhall let her be redeemed: to fell her un ftrange nation he fhall have no po feeing he hath dealt deceitfully v her.

9 And if he have betrothed her u his fon, he fhall deal with her after t manner of daughters.

10 If he take him another wife food, her raiment, and her duty of riage shall he not diminish.

II And if he do not these three u her, then fhall fhe go out free with

money.

12 He that fmiteth a man fo that die, fhall be furely put to death.

13 And if a man lie not in wait, | God deliver him into his hand, the will appoint thee a place whither he f flee.

14 But if a man come prefumptuo upon his neighbour, to lay him w guile, thou shalt take him from mine tar, that he may die.

CHAP. XXII.

Divers Laws be quit: only he thall pay for the lofs his time, and fhall caufe him to be kill it, or fell it, he thala reftore five

20 And if a man fmite his fervant, or is maid with a rod, and he die under is band, he fhall be furely punished. 21 Notwithstanding, if he continue a lay or two, he shall not be punished: for se is his money.

22 If men ftrive, and hurt a woman with child, fo that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he fhall se furely punished according as the womans husband will lay upon him; and he ball pay as the judges determine.

23 And if any mifchief follow, then thou balt give life for life,

24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand For hand, foot for foot,

25 Burning for burning, wound for wound, fripe for ftripe.

26 And if a man fmite the eye of his fervant, or the eye of his maid, that perith; he shall let him go free for his eyes fake..

27 And if he fmite out his man-ferpants tooth, or his maid-fervants tooth, he fall let him go free for his tooths fake. 28 If an ox gore a man or a woman that they die: then the ox fhall be furely Boned, and his flesh fhall not be eaten, but the owner of the ox shall be quit.

29 But if the ox were wont to push with his horn in time paft, and it hath been fified to his owner, and he hath not kept him in, but that he hath killed a man or a woman; the ox fhar be ftoned, and his ower alfo fhall be put to death.

30 If there be laid on him a fum of morey, then he thall give for the ranfom of hulife, whatfoever is laid upon him.

a man fhall fteal an ox or a sheep, and

oxen for an ox, and four fheep for a sheep. 2 If a thief be found breaking up, and be fmitten that he die, there shall no blood be bed for him.

3 If the fun be rifen upon him, there fhall be blood fhed for him: for he fhould make full reftitution; if he have nothing, then he fhall be fold for his theft.

4 If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall reftore double.

S¶ If a man hall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and fhall put in his beaft, and fhall feed in another mans field: of the best of his own field, and of the be of his own vineyard shall he make reftitution.

6 If fire break out,and catch in thorns, fo that the ftacks of corn, or the ftanding corn, or the field be confumed therewith he that kindled the fire fhall furely make reftitution.

7¶ If a man fhall deliver unto his neighbour money or ftuff to keep, and it be ftolen out of the mans houfe, if the thief be found, let him pay double.

8 If the thief be not found, then the mafter of the houfe fhall be brought unto the judges, to fee whether he have put his hand unto his neighbours goods.

9 For all manner of trefpafs, whether it be for ox, for afs, for theep, for raiment, or for any manner of loft thing, which another challengeth to be his: the cause of both parties fhall come before the judges; and whom the judges fhall condemn," he fhall pay double unto his neighbour.

10 Ifa man deliver unto his neighbour 31 Whether he have gored a fon, or an afs, or an ox, or a fheep, or any beaft have gored a daughter, according to his to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven judgment fhall it be done unto him. away, no man feeing 2:

34 The owner of the pit fhall make it good, and give money unto the owner of them, and the dead beef fhall be his.

And if one mans ox hurt anothers that he die, then they fhall fell the live , and divide the money of it, and the bead er alto they shall divide.

36 Or if it be known that the ox hath afed to push in time paft, and his owner bach not kept him in; he fhall furely pay cx for ox, and the dead fhall be his

11 Then fhall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbours goods: and the owner of it fhall accept thereof, and he fhall not make it good.

12 And if it be ftolen from him, he fhall make reftitution unto the owner thereof.

13 If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witnefs, and he thall not make good that which was torn.

14 And if a man borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall furely make it good.

15 But if the cwner thereof be with it, he mall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.

25 If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou fhalt not be to him as an ufurer, neither halt thou lay upon him ufury.

26 If thou at all take thy neighbours raiment to pledge, thou fhalt deliver it unto him by that the fun goeth down:

27 For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he fleep? and it fhall come to pafs, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear: for I am gracious.

28 Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curfe the ruler of thy people.

29 Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits and of thy liquors: the firft-born of thy fons fhalt thou give

unto me.

30 Likewife fhalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy fheep: even days it fhall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me.

31 And ye fhall be holy men unto me: neither fhall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beafts in the field: ye shall caft it to the dogs.

26¶There shall nothing caft their young, nor be barren in thy land: the number of thy days. I will fulfil.

27 I will fend my fear before thee, and will deftroy all the people to whom thou fak come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.

28 And I will fend hornets before thee, which fhall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite from before thee.

29 I will not drive them out from befare thee in one year, left the land become defolate, and the beaft of the field multiply against thee.

30 By little and little I will drive them at from before thee, until thou be increafed, and inherit the land.

31 And I will fet thy bounds from the Red fea even unto the fea of the Philifines, and from the defert unto the river: for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and thou shalt drive them out before thee.

32 Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.

33 They fhall not dwell in thy land, left they make thee fin againft me: for if thou ferve their gods, it will furely be a inare unto thee.

CHAP. XXIV.

Nd he faid unto Mofes, Come up un

dab and Abibu, and feventy of the elders of Ifrael: and worship ye afar off.

2 And Mofes alone fhall come near the LORD: but they shall not come nigh, neiher fhall the people go up with him.

5 And he fent young men of the chil dren of Ifrael, which offered burnt-offerings, and facrificed peace-offerings of oxen unto the LORD.

6 And Mofes took half of the blood, and put it in bafons, and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.

3 And Mofes came and told the peopleall the words of the LORD, and all the Judgments: and all the people anfwered win one voice, and faid, All the words

which the LORD hath faid, will we do.

7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they faid, All that the LORD hath faid, will we do, and be obedient.

And Mofes wrote all the words of
Loap, and rofe up early in the morn-

8 And Mofes took the blood,, and fprinkled it on the people, and faid, Behold, the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.

Then went up Mofes and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and feventy of the elders of Ifrael,

10 And they faw the God of Ifrael: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a fapphire-ftone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.

11 And upon the nobles of the children of Ifrael he laid not his hand: alfo they faw God, and did eat and drink.

12 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Come up to me into the mount, and be there and I will give thee tables of ftone, and a law, and commandments, which I have written, that thou mayeft teach them.

13 And Mofes rofe up, and his minifter Joshua: and Mofes went up into the mount of God.

14 And he faid unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them.

Is And Mofes went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount.

16 And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it fix days: and the feventh day he called unto Mofes out of the midft of the cloud.

17 And the fight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount, in the eyes of the children of Ifrael.

18 And Mofes went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Mofes was in the mount forty days, and forty nights.

CHAP. XXV.

ANd the LORD, spake unto Mofes,

2 Speak unto the children of Ifrae that they bring me an offering: of
