Chap. xvij. ind the earth open her mouth, and fwalow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit, then ye fhall underftand that thefe men have provoked the LORD.

31 And it came to pass as he had made an end of fpeaking all these words, that the ground clave afunder that was under them:

32 And the earth opened her mouth, and fwallowed them up, and their houfes, and all the men that appertained unto Korab, and all their goods.

33 They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth clofed upon them: and they perhed from among the congregation.

34 And all Ifrael that were round about them, fed at the cry of them: for they faid, Left the earth fwallow us up aifo.

35 And there came out a fire from the LORD, and confumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incenfe.

Aarens rod buddeth.

46 And Mofes faid unto Aron, Take a cenfer, and put fire therein from off the altar,and put on incenfe, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun.

47 And Aaron took as Mofes commanded, and ran into the midft of the congregation; and behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incenfe, and made an atonement for the people.

48 And he ftood between the dead and the living, and the plague was ftayed.

49 Now they that died in the plague, were fourteen thousand and feven hundred, befide them that died about the matter of Korah.

so And Aaron returned unto Mofes, unto the door of the tabernacle of the con gregation: and the plague was stayed. CHAP. XVII.

16 And the LORD fpake unto Mofer, ANd the LORD spake unto Mɔfɩs,

faying,

37 Speak unto Eleazar the fon of Aaron the prieft, that he take up the cenfers out of the burning, and scatter thou the fire yonder; for they are hallowed.

38 The cenfers of thefe finners against their own fouls, let them make them broad plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before the LORD, therefore they are hallowed: and they fhall be a fign unto the children of Ifrael.

39 And Eleazar the priest took the brafen cenfers, wherewith they that were bort had offered, and they were made broad plates for a covering of the altar:

40 To be a memorial unto the children of Ifrael, that no ftranger, which is not of the feed of Aaron, come near to offer incenfe before the LORD, that he be not Korah, and as his company: as the LORD faid to him by the hand of Mofes. 41 But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Ifrael murmured againft Mofes, and against Aaron, faying, Ye have killed the people of the

LORD.

42 And it came to pass when the congregation was gathered against Mofes,and gant Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared.

43 And Mofes and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation. 44 And the LORD fpake unto Mofes, faying,

45 Get you up from among this congre. gation, that I may confume them as in a moment: and they fell upon their faces.

faying,

2 Speak unto the children of Ifrael, and take of every one of them a rod according to the houfe of their fathers, of all their princes according to the houfe of their fathers, twelve rods: write thou every mans name upon his rod.

3 And thou shalt write Aarons name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod fhall be for the head of the houfe of their fathers.

4 And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the teftimony, where I will meet with you.

5 And it fhall come to pafs, that the mans rod whom I fhall choofe, fhall bloffom: and I will make to ceafe from me the murmurings of the children of Ifrael, whereby they murmure against you.

6 And Mofes fpake unto the children of Ifrael, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers houfes, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.

7 And Mofes laid up the rods before the LORD, in the tabernacle of witnefs.

8 And it came to pass that on the morrow Mofes went into the tabernacle of witness 3 and behold, the rod of Aaron for the houfe of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed biof foms, and yielded almonds.

9 And Mofes brought out all the rods from before the LORD, unto all the children of Ifrael: and they looked, and took every man his rod.

10 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Bring Aarons rod again, before the teftimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take awa

12 And the children of Ifrael (pake unto Mofes, faying, Behold, we die, we perifh, we all perish.

13 Whofoever cometh any thing near unto the tabernacle of the LORD fhall die: fhall we be confumed with dying?

CHAP. XVIII.

The priests and it, every male fhall eat it: it shall be hol unto thee.

II And this is thine, the heave-offer ing of their gift, with all the wave offer ings of the children of Ifrael: I have gi ven them unto thee, and to thy fons, and to thy daughters with thee, by a ftatus for ever: every one that is clean in th houfe fhall eat of it.

12 All the beft of the oyl, and all th beft of the wine, and of the wheat, th

the first fruits of them which they shall

and thy fons and thy fathers houfe with thee shall bear the iniquity of the fanAtuary and thou and thy fons with thee hall bear the iniquity of your priefthood.

2 And thy brethren alfo of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou with thee, that they may be joyned unto thee, and minifter unto thee: but thou and thy fons with thee, shall minister before the tabernacle of witnefs.

3 And they fhall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only they shall not come nigh the veffels of the fanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor you alfo die.

4 And they fhall be joyned unto thee, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the fervice of the tabernacle: and a ftranger shall not come nigh unto you.

5 And ye shall keep the charge of the fanctuary, and the charge of the altar, that there be no wrath any more upon the children of Ifrael.

6 And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Ifrael: to you they are given as a gift for the LORD, to do the fervice of the tabernacle of the congregation.

7 Therefore thou and thy fons with thee, fhall keep your priefts office, for every thing of the altar, and within the vail, and ye fhall ferve: I have given your priefts office unto you, as a fervice of gift and the ftranger that cometh nigh hall be put to death.

8 And the LORD fpake unto Aaron, Behold, I alfo have given thee the charge of mine heave-offerings, of all the hallowed things of the children of Ifrael, unto thee have I given them, by reafon of the anointing, and to thy fons by an ordinance for ever.

9 This fhall be thine of the moft holy things, referved from the fire: every oblation of theirs, every meat-offering of theirs, and every fin-offering of theirs, and every trefpafs-offering of theirs, which they shall render unto me, shall be moft holy for thee and for thy fons.

to In the most holy place fhalt thou eat

unto the LORD, them have I given thee.

13 And whatsoever is firft ripe in th land, which they fhall bring unto th LORD, fhall be thine, every one that i clean in thine houfe thall eat of it.

14 Every thing devoted in Ifrael, thal be thine.

Is Every thing that openeth the matric in all flem, which they bring unto th LORD, whether it be of men or beafts, tha be thine:nevertheless the firft-born of ma fhalt thou furely redeem, and the firflin of unclean beafts fhalt thou redeem.

16 And thofe that are to be redeemed from a month old fhalt thou redeem ad cording to thine eftimation, for the mo ney of five fhekels, after the thekei of th fanctuary, which is twenty gerahs.

17 But the firftling of a cow, or th firftling of a sheep, or the firfling of goat, thou shalt not redeem, they are he ly: thou shalt fprinkle their blood upo the altar, and fhalt burn their fat for an of fering made by fire, for afweet favour ur to the LORD.

18 And the flesh of them fhall be thin as the wave-breaft, and as the right shoul der are thine.

19 All the heave-offerings of the hol things, which the children of Ifrael offe unto the LORD, have I given thee, an thy fons and thy daughters with thee, b a ftatute for ever; it is a covenant of fal for ever, before the LORD, unto thee and to thy feed with thee.

20 And the LORD fpake unto Aaron Thou fhalt have no inheritance in thei land, neither halt thou have any part a mong them: I am thy part, and thine in heritance among the children of Ifrael.

21 And behold, I have given the chil dren of Levi all the tenth in Ifrael, for at inheritance, for their fervice which they ferve, even the fervice of the tabernacle of the congregation.

22 Neither muft the children of Ifrae henceforth come nigh the tabernacle o the congregation, left they bear fin, and die.

23 But the Levites fhall do the fervice of the tabernacle of the congregation,

25 And the LORD fpake unto Mofes, fying,

26 Thus fpeak unto the Levites, and fay nto them, When ye take of the children of Ifrael the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye Call offer up an heave-offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe.

27 And this your heave-offering fhall be reckoned unto you, as though it were the corn of the threshing-floor, and as the tuleft of the wine-prefs.

28 Thus you alfo fhall offer an heave-offering unto the LORD, of all your tithes which ye receive of the children of If. rael: and ye shall give thereof the LORDS heave-offering to Aaron the prieft.

29 Out of all your gifts ye fhall offer every heave offering of the LORD, of all the beft thereof, even the hallowed part thereof, out of it.

30 Therefore thou shalt fay unto them, When ye have heaved the beft thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the Levites, as the increase of the threshing floor, and as the increase of the wine-prefs. 31 And ye fhall eat it in every place, and your houtholds: for it is your reward for your fervice, in the tabernacle of the congregation.

32 And ye fhall bear no fin, by reason of it when ye have heaved from it the beft of it: neither fhall ye pollute the holy things of the children of Ifrael, left ye die.

2 This is the ordinance of the law, which the LORD hath commanded, faying, Speak unto the children of Ifrael, that they bring thee a red heifer without fpot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke.

3 And ye fhall give her unto Eleazar the prieft, that he may bring her forth without the camp, and one fhall flay her before his face.

4 And Eleazar the prieft fhall take of her blood with his finger, and fprinkle of her blood directly before the tabernacle of the congregation feven times.

7 Then the prieft fhall wath his cloaths, and he fhall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he fhall come into the camp, and the prieft fhall be unclean until the even.

8 And he that burneth her, fhall wash his cloaths in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and fhall be unclean until the even.

9 And a man that is clean fhall gather up the afhes of the heifer, and lay them up without the camp in a clean place, and it fhall be kept for the congregation of the children of Ifrael, for a water of feparaion it is a purification for fin.

to And he that gathereth the ashes of the heifer, fhall wah his cloaths, and be unclean until the even: and it shall be unto the children of Ifrael, and unto the ftranger that fojourneth among them, for a ftatute for ever."

11 He that toucheth the dead body of any man, fhall be unclean feven days.

12 He fhall purifie himself with it on the third day, and on the feventh day he fall be clean: but if he purifie not himfelf the third day, then the seventh day he fhall not be clean.

13 Whofoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of the LORD, and that foul fhall be cut off from Ifrael: because the water of feparation was not fprinkled upon him, he fhall be unclean; his uncleannefs is yet upon him.

14 This is the law, when a man dieth in a tent, all that come into the tent, and all that is in the tent, shall be unclean feven days.

15 And every open veffel which hath no covering bound upon it, is unclean.

16 And whofoever toucheth one that is flain with a fword in the open fields, or a dead body,or a bone of a man, or a grave, fhall be unclean feven days.

17 And for an unclean person they shall take of the ashes of the burnt heifer of purification for fin, and running water shall be put thereto in a veffel:

18 And a clean perfon fhall take hyffop, and dip it in the water, and (prinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the veffels, and upon the perfons that were there, and upon him that touched a bone, or one flain, or one dead, or a grave:

19 And the clean perfon fhall fprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, on the feventh day: and on the fev

day he thall purifie himfelf, and wash his cloaths, and bathe himself in water, and fhall be clean at even.

22 And whatfoever the unclean perfon -toucheth, fhall be unclean: and the foul that toucheth it, fhall be unclean until

even.

CHAP. XX.

"Hen came the children of Ifrael, even

defert of Zin, in the firft month: and the people abode in Kadem, and Miriam died there, and was buried there.

2 And there was no water for the congregation and they gathered themfelves together against Mofes and againft Aaron. 3 And the people chode with Mofes, and pake, faying, Would God that we bad died when our brethren died before the LORD.

4 And why have ye brought up the congregation of the LORD into this wil dernefs, that we and our cattel fhould die there?

s And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of feed, or of figs, or vines, or of pomegranates, neither is there any water to drink.

6 And Mofes and Aaron went from the prefence of the affembly, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.

7 And the LORD fpake unto Mofes, faying,

8 Take the rod,and gather thou the affembly together, thou and Aaron thy brother, and fpeak ye unto the rock before their eyes, and it fhall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: fo thou shalt give the congregation, and their beafts drink. 9 And Mofes took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.

to And Mofes and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he faid unto them, Hear now, ye rebels, muft we fetch you water out of this rock ?

11 And Mofes lift up his hand,and with

17 Let us país, I pray thee, through country: we will not pafs through fields, or through the vineyards, ne will we drink of the water of the w we will go by the kings high-way, will not turn to the right hand nor to left, until we have paffed thy borders

18 And Edom faid unto him, Thou not pafs by me, left I come out ag thee with the fword.

19 And the children of Ifrael faid him, We will go by the high-way: an I and my cattel drink of thy water, I will pay for it I will only (with doing any thing elfe) go through on feet.

20 And he faid, Thou shalt not through. And Edom came out againft with much people, and with a fr hand.

21 Thus Edom refused to give paffage through his border where Ifrael turned away from him.

22 And the children of Ifrael, the whole congregation journeyed f Kadeh, and came unto mount Hor.

23 And the LORD fpake unto Mofes Aaron in mount Hor, by the coaft of land of Edom, faying,,

24 Aaron fhall be gathered unto his p ple: for he fhall not enter into the which I have given unto the children Ifrael, becaufe ye rebelled againft word at the water of Meribah.

25 Take Aaron and Eleazar his fon, bring them up unto mount Hor:

26 And ftrip Aaron of his garme and put them upon Eleazar his fon:

CHAP. XXI.

And when King Arad the Canaanite

Nd when king Arad the Canaanite,

all that Ifrael came by the way of the pics, then he fought againft Ifrael, and ook fome of them prifoners.

2 And Ifrael vowed a vow unto the ORD, and faid, If thou wilt indeed dever this people into my hand, then 1 willmerly deftroy their cities.

And the LORD hearkned to the voice Ifrael, and delivered up the Canaanites: nd they utterly deftroyed them and their Mies and he called the name of the place formah.

14 Wherefore it is faid in the book of the wars of the LORD, What he did in the Red fea, and in the brooks of Arnon,

15 And at the ftream of the brooks that goeth down to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth upon the border of Moab.

16 And from thence they went to Beer: that is the well whereof the LORD fpake unto Mofes, Gather the people together, and I will give them water.

17 Then Ifrael fang this fong, Spring up, O well, fing ye unto it:

18 The princes digged the well, the nobles of the people digged it by the direction of the law-giver, with their ftaves. And from the wilderness they went to Mattanah:

19 And from Mattanah to Nahaliel: and from Nahaliel to Bamoth:

20 And from Bamoth in the valley that

And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Make thee a fiery ferpent, and fet it upon a pole: and it fall come to pafs, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, fall live.

And Mofes made a ferpent of brafs, and put it upon a pole, and it came to Pet, that if a ferpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the ferpent of brafs, he lived.

to And the children of Ifrael fet forWard, and pitched in Oboth.

21 And Ifrael fent meffengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, faying,

22 Let me pafs through thy land; we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards, we will not drink of the waters of the well: but we will go along by the kings high way, until we be paft thy borders.

23 And Sihon would not fuffer Ifrael to pals through his border: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out againft Ifrael into the wilderness: and he came to Jahaz, and fought against Ifrael.

24 And Ifrael fmote him with the edge, of the fword, and poffeffed his land from Arnon unto Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon was strong.

25 And Ifrael took all thefe cities: and Ifrael dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites in Hefhbon, and in all the villages thereof.

26 For Hefhbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon.

27 Wherefore they that fpeak in proverbs, fay, Come into Hethbon, let the city of Sihon be built and prepared
