thou art just in thy sentence, and irreproachable in thy judgment upon me.......

5 Alas! I was born to iniquity; and to sin my mother conceived me:

6 But thou, who delightest in truth, hast taught me the secrets of thy wisdom. 17 Purify me with hyssop. that I may be clean; wash me, that I may be whiter than

snow.

8 Make me to hear a message of joy and gladness, that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

9 Turn thy face from my sin; and blot out all mine iniquities.

10 Re-create in me, o GOD! a clean heart, and renew an upright mind within

me.

II Cast me not away from thy presence; neither take thine holy spirit from me.

12 Restore to me the joy of thy salvation, and support me with a cheerful spirit. 13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways, and sinners shall be converted to thee.

14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O GOD! the GOD of my salvation! and my tongue shall celebrate thy mercy. 15 О ЈЕНО

15 O JEHOVAH! open thou my lips; and my mouth shall proclaim thy praise.. 16 Didst thou delight in sacrifice, I would give it but, in such cases, thou acceptest not of burnt-offerings.

17 The sacrifice in which GOD delighteth is a contrite mind; a broken and contrite heart GOD never despiseth.

18 Be gracious with thy favour unto Zion; build thou the walls of Jerusalem; 19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of the righteous, the burnt-offerings and oblations; then shall they offer young bullocks upon thine altar.

PSALM LII.

WHY shouldst thou boast, o thou shameless man of thy wickedness ?

2 Thy tongue is daily devising mischief; like a razor that is sharpened, executing slaughter.

3 Thou lovest evil more than good; and falsehood more than sincerity.

4 Thou lovest all who meditate destructive purposes; o thou deceitful tongue!

5 Therefore, GOD will utterly destroy thee: he will make thee afraid, and tear

thee

thee from thy dwelling; and extirpate thee from the land of the living.

6 The righteous shall see it, and rejoice; and shall laugh thee to scorn.

7 "Behold," will they say, "the man who made not GOD his strength; but, trusting in the abundance of his riches, confirmed himself in his wickedness."

8 'But, as for me, I shall be, in the house of GOD, like a flourishing olive tree : for I 'will ever trust in the goodness of GOD.

'9'I will ever celebrate thee, O JEHOVAH! 'for what thou hast done; and spread abroad thy fame for ever before thy worshippers.

PSALM LIII.

THE profligate imagine, there is no GOD! They are corrupted, and commit abominable iniquity; there is not one of them that doth good, not even one.

2 GOD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see whether there were any so wise as to seek GOD.

'3 But they are all gone astray, they are all corrupted: not one of them doth good, not even one.

4 Are all the workers of iniquity without understanding, that they devour. my people as they would devour bread ?

5 Since they call not upon GOD, they shall greatly fear, who never feared, before: for GOD will scatter the bones of the profligate; they shall be confounded, for GOD despiseth them.

6. O that deliverance may come to Israel from Zion! When GOD reverseth the captivity of his people, Jacob will exult, and Isracl will rejoice.

PSALM LIV.

SAVE me, O GOD! for thy name's sake: and do me justice in thy might..

2 Hear my prayer, o GOD! give ear unto the words of my mouth...

3 For the proud are risen up against; me, and the oppressors seek my life; they set not GOD before them.

4 Yet GOD is mine helper; JEHOVAH

is the support of my life.

5 Let the evil of mine enemies revert upon themselves; for thy truth's sake, on God! destroy them.

6 I will

6 I will feeely sacrifice unto thee; I will praise thy gracious name, O JEHOVAH ! 7 For thou deliverest me from all my distress; and lettest me see mine enemies punished.

PSALM LV.

HEAR my prayer, O GOD! and hide not thyself from my supplication.

2 Attend unto me, and answer me, for I am dejected in my prayer: 3 Because I am disturbed with the clamours of the enemy, and with the oppressive violence of the wicked.

4 For they falsely impute iniquity to me; and with fury set themselves against

me.

5 Mine heart is wounded within me, and the terrors of death are come upon me: 6 Fear and trembling have seized me, and horror hath overwhelmed me :

7 And I say, "O that I had wings! like a dove would I fly to some retreat :

8 "Lo! I would wander away to a distance, and take up my abode in a wilder

ness.

9 "I would
