8 JEHOVAH raiseth up those who are fallen; JEHOVAH loveth the righteous; 9 JEHOVAH guardeth the strangers; he supporteth the fatherless and widow, but subverteth the way of the wicked. IO JEHOVAH shall reign for ever, even, thy GOD, O Zion! through all generations. PSALM CXLVII. PRAISE JEHOVAH, for it is good; sing praise to our GOD, for it is delightful: praise becometh the upright. 2 JEHOVAH rebuildeth Jerusalem, and gathereth together the dispersed of Israel: 3 He healeth the broken-hearted, and appeaseth their grief: 4 He telleth the number of the stars, and calleth every one of them by name. 5 Great is JEHOVAH, and abounding in power; his wisdom is infinite. 6 JEHOVAH exalteth the meek, but humbleth the wicked even with the ground. 7 Sing ye, alternately, unto JEHOVAH, with rejoicing sing praise with the harp unto our GOD: 8 Who covereth the heavens with clouds; and provideth the rain for the earth : 9 Who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains, and giveth to the animal creation their food; even to the young ravens when they cry. 10 He delighteth not in the strength of the horse; neither is he pleased with the agility of the warrior. I I 11 But JEHOVAH is pleased with those who fear him; with those who depend on his mercy. 12 Praise JEHOVAH, O Jerusalem! praise thy GOD, o Zion! 13 For he strengtheneth the bars of thy gates, and blesseth thy children within thee: 14 He establisheth peace in thy borders, and giveth thee abundance of wheat. 15 He sendeth forth his word unto the earth, and his command runneth with speed: 16 He giveth snow like unto wool, and scattereth the hoar-frost like ashes: 17 He casteth down his ice to bind up the waters; what can then stand before his frost? 18 He dispatcheth his word, and melteth them; he changeth the wind, and the waters flow. 19. He 19 He hath declared his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel : 20 But he hath not done so to any other nation; neither are they acquainted with his laws Praise ye JEHOVAH! PSALM CXLVIII. PRAISE JEHOVAH, ye inhabitants of the heavens; praise him, ye who dwell in the regions on high. 2 Praise him, all ye his angels; praise him, all ye his hosts. 3 Praise him, ye sun and moon; praise him, all ye stars of light. 4 Praise him, ye heaven of heavens; and ye waters which are above the heavens. 5 Let these praise the name of JEHOVAH; for he commanded, and they were created: 6 He established them for ever and ever, and gave them a law which they shall not transgress. 7 Praise JEHOVAH, ye creatures of the earth; ye sea-animals and all the abyss: 8 Lightning 8 Lightning and hail, snow and vapour, storm and tempest, executing his word: 9 Mountains and all hills: fruit-bearing trees and all cedars : 10 Wild-beasts and all cattle; reptiles and all winged fowl: 11 Kings of the earth and all people : princes and all judges of the world: 12 Young men and maidens; old men and children. 13 Let these praise the name of JEHOVAH; for his name alone is worthy to be praised. 14 His greatness extendeth over the earth and the heavens; and he exalteth the horn of his people. 15 He is the glory of all his pious ones, even of the children of Israel; a people near unto him. PSALM CXLIX. SING unto JEHOVAH a new song; sing his praise in the congregation of his pious ones. 2 Let Israel rejoice in him who made him; let the children of Zion exult in their king. 3 Let them praise his name in the dance, let them sing praise to him with the tabor and harp : 4 For JEHOVAH taketh pleasure in his people; and the humble he maketh illustrious by his deliverance. 5 Let his holy ones exult with glory; let them sing aloud upon their beds. 6 The praises of GOD shall be in their mouths, and a two-edged sword in their hands: 7 To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and to chastize the nations; 8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with links of iron: 9 That they may execute upon them the judgment that is written: Such is the honour reserved for all his holy ones. PSALM CL. PRAISE GOD for his holiness; praise him for the vast extent of his power: 2 Praise him for his mighty acts; praise him according to his exceeding greatness. 3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet; praise him with the lute and harp : 4 Praise |
