O ALMIGHTY GOD! the supreme governor of the world, whose power is irresistible; we praise and thank thee for our happy success, the whole glory of which we wholly ascribe unto thee, who art the only giver of victory. And, we beseech thee, lead us to improve this great mercy to the benefit of our country, and, as much as in us lieth, : to to the good of all mankind. Give us, also, such a sense of this great mercy, that we be truly thankful for our success, and that our gratitude may appear in our lives, by an humble and holy obedience unto thee all our days, according to the gospel of Jesus Christ our lord. Now unto thee be ascribed, for all thy mercies, and in particular for this victory and deliverance, ali glory, honour and praise, o father almighty! for ever. Amen. At the burial of their dead at sea, The foregoing office, for the burial of the dead, may be used, only instead of these words [we therefore commit his body to the ground, earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust,] may be said; We, therefore, commit his body to the deep, until the sea shall give up its dead; in a well assured hope that there will be to to all those, who die in the fear and love of GOD, a joyful resurrection to eternal life, agreeably to the gospel of our lord Jesus Christ; when our mortal body will be changed, and made like unto his glorious body; and we shall become the subjects of his heavenly kingdom. O GOD! our heavenly father! who hast promised, by Jesus Christ, to all those who love and obey thee, all things necessary to their bodily sustenance; send us, we beseech thee, in this our necessity, such moderate rain and showers, that we may receive the fruits of the earth for our maintenance and comfort; and grant, that we may shew our thankfulness to thee by our increased obedience to thy holy laws, which thou hast given us in the gospel of Jesus Christ our lord. Amen. For For fair weather. O ALMIGHTY and most merciful GOD! although we, for our iniquities, deserve thy chastisement; yet, we trust, that upon our repentance, thou wilt send us such weather, that we may receive the fruits of the earth in their due season; and learn, from all thy dispensations, to amend our lives; and, for thy clemency, to give thee praise and thanks, now and for ever. Amen. In the time of dearth and famine. O GOD! heavenly father! whose gift it is that the rain doth fall, and the earth is fruitful; that the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fishes of the sea increase and multiply; behold, we beseech thee, the afflictions of thy people; and grant, that the scarcity and dearth which we now suffer, may, through thy goodness, be mercifully turned into plenty, that we may be preserved to praise and thank thee for this, and for all thy mercies to us, ac cording to the gospel of Jesus Christ our lord.
