An act to amend an act enttiled "an act to incorporate the Missouri Gymnastic Society.

Mr. McFarland introduced a bill entitled,

An act declaring certain minor heirs of full age;

Which was read a first time, rule suspended, read a second time,

When Mr. Watkins moved to refer the bill to the committee on Judiciary, Which motion was disagreed to.

The question then being on suspending the rule, in order to read the bill a third time now,

Was decided in the affirmative by the following vote, the ayes and noes being demanded by Mr. Rannels:

AYES-Messrs. Brown, Carr, Carson, Frost, Gullet, Harris, Irwin, Mayo, Mothersead, Morin, McFarland, Peery, Rains, Richardson, Robinson, Rogers, Rowland, Sharp, Sims, Stevenson, Vernon, Waddell, Watkins, Wood, and Ziegler-25.

Mr. Carr, from the select committee to which was referred the resolution to take into consideration the present financial condition of the State, and to prepare and report a bill to sustain the credit of the State;

And to which was also referred Senate bill entitled,

An act to amend an act entitled " an act to secure the prompt payment of interest on State bonds,'

An act to amend an act entitled "an act to secure the prompt payment of interest on State bonds, and to create a sinking fund ;

And recommended its passage.

The bill was taken up,

And on motion of Mr. Watkins laid on the table, and made the special

order of the day for Wednesday next, at 10 o'clock; and 200 copies thereof ordered to be printed for the use of the General Assembly.

Mr. Blow, on leave, introduced a bill entitled,

An act concerning banks,

Which was read a first time, rule suspended, read a second time, and referred to the committee on Banks and Corporations.

Mr. Rannels, on leave, introduced a bill entitled,

An act to amend an act to incorporate the German Savings Institution, Which was read a first time, rule suspended, and referred to the committes on Banks and Corporations.

Mr. Rannels, from the committee on the Judiciary, to which was referred House bill entitled,

An act for the relief of Charles O'Fallon, and others ;

Reported the same back to the Senate, and recommended its passage.
The bill was then taken up, read a third time, and passed.

Reported the same back to the Senate, and recommended that it be indefinitely postponed.

The report was agreed to, and the bill indefinitely postponed.

On motion of Mr. Watkins,

Senate bill entitled,

An act to amend an act entitled "an act to regulate practice in courts of justice, approved December 12, 1855,

And the substitute therefor of the same title, were taken up,

And made the special order of the day for two o'clock this evening. Mr. Brown, from the committee on Claims, to which was referred House bill entitled,

An act for the relief of William Salsbury, of Buchanan county,

Reported the same back to the Senate, with the following amendment, and recommended its passage, as amended:

Amend first section by striking out "three hundred and thirty-three dollars and ten cents," where it occurs, and insert "two hundred and thirty-six dollars and twenty-five cents."

The amendment was read a first time, rule suspended, read a second time, and agreed to;

And the bill as amended was read a third time and passed.

Mr. Morris introduced a memorial entitled,

Memorial of Messrs. Hackney and Werner, justices of the county court of St. Louis county, asking power to issue bonds to secure the credit of said county;

Which was, on his motion,

Referred to a select committee consisting of the St. Louis delegation. Mr. Robinson moved to reconsider the vote agreeing to the report of the committee on Claims, indefinitely postponing Senate bill entitled,

An act to pay Peter McClain for work and labor done by him in the service of the State;

Pending which motion,

On motion of Mr. Kitchen, the Senate adjourned.

EVENING SESSION.

Senate met pursuant to adjournment.

Mr. Robinson withdrew the motion made by him this morning to reconsider the vote agreeing to the report of the committee on Claims, indefinitely postponing Senate bill entitled,

An act to pay Peter McClain for work and labor done by him in the service of the State.

Mr. Stevenson renewed the motion made by Mr. Robinson, which motion was decided in the affirmative.

On further motion of Mr. Stevenson the bill was indefinitely postponed. Propositions and motions being in order,

Senate bill entitled,

An act to amend an act entitled "an act to regulate practice in courts of justice," approved December 12, 1855.

And a substitute of the same title, which were made the special order of to-day, at two o'clock,

When Mr. Ziegler offered the following amendment to the substitute :

Amend as follows: strike out the words, "and such pleas shall be verified as other pleadings," in the fourth line of section two. After the words, "probate business," in section three, insert the words, "county courts." Add as additional sections, the following:

SEC. 5. This act shall not apply to actions against incorporated companies; and all acts, and parts of acts, conflicting with this act, are hereby repealed.

SEC. 6. The Secretary of State shall, immediately after the passage of this act, furnish the Public Printer a certified copy of this act, and cause the same to be published in the Jefferson Examiner newspaper. A copy of said newspaper, containing a copy of this act, shall be received in all the courts of this State, as evidence of this act; and the said Secretary of State shall transmit to the several clerks of the courts of record, of this State, having jurisdiction in civil causes, each two copies of such newspaper containing this act.

This act to take effect from and after its passage.

The amendments to the substitute were read a first time, rule suspended, read a second time, and agreed to.

Mr. Gullet offered the following amendment to the substitute:

Amend by adding additional section, "this act shall not be so construed a to apply to contracts made prior to the passage of this act."

The amendment was read a first time, rule suspended, read a second time, and disagreed to by the following vote, the ayes and noes being demanded by Mr. Gullet:
