The business of the Senate was suspended, when the President signed House concurrent resolution No. 7, after which the Senate resumed regular business.

Reports from standing committees being in order,

Senator Rubey, from Committee on Printing, reported back communication from Prof. Schweitzer, of the State University, in relation to the regulation of coal oil inspection.

On motion of Senator Rubey, the communication was referred to Judiciary Committee.

The Committee on Penitentiary made the following report:

Senator Edwards of St. Charles, moved to amend the bill by striking out "second," and inserting "third" in lieu thereof before day in third line of section 1. Carried.

The question being upon the engrossment of the bill, Senator Pope moved to recommit the bill to the Judiciary Committee, with instructions to consider the same in connection with bill to revise the general practice act. Carried.

Senator Terry gave notice that on to-morrow he would move to amend the rules of the Senate by adding a new rule, No. 86, thereto.

Senator Ballingal introduced Senate bill No. 131, entitled An act to amend chapter 115 of the General Statutes, entitled "Of husband and wife, and the rights of married women," by adding the following new sections thereto, to be designated as sections 20, 21, 22 and 23, and to repeal an act entitled an act to amend chapter 115 of the Gen. eral Statutes of Missouri, approved March 25, 1875; read first time.

Senator Paxton introduced Senate bill No. 132, entitled An act to amend section 7 of an act entitled an act supplementary to and amendatory of an act concerning the assessment and collection of the revenue, approved March 15, 1875; read first time.

Senator Edwards of Lafayette, introduced Senate bill No. 133, entitled An act to amend section 4 of chapter 98 of the General Statutes of Missouri, concerning dramshop keepers and their licenses, and to add a new section to said chapter; read first time.

Senator Lakenan, on leave, introduced Senate bill No. 134, entitled An act to require deeds of trusts and mortgages with power of sale given to secure liens on real estate to be foreclosed by petition in court as mortgages are now foreclosed; read first time.

Engrossed bills on third reading being the next order of business, Senate bill No. 1 was taken up, and, on motion of Senator Thompson, laid over until to-morrow at 2 o'clock.

On motion of Senator Morrisson, the Senate adjourned.

Senator Burkeholder offered a resolution instructing committees of the Senate to meet like committees from the House, to agree on joint rule to draft bills under section 34, article 4 of the Constitution Lost.
