NOTICE TO THE TENTH PART.

THE present part concludes my bibliographical labours on the nucleus furnished by Lowndes-but does not complete the work. An Appendix is to follow immediately, which will contain, inter alia, a complete list of all the books printed by the Literary and Scientific Societies of Great Britain, with such particulars respecting them as are likely to be useful to the scholar and collector.

What I shall have to say in taking a retrospective and prospective view of an undertaking which has already cost me seven years of anxiety and application, may conveniently be deferred till then.

In the meantime, I will venture to assert, and I do so conscientiously, that I have largely exceeded, in fulfilment, my self-imposed contract with the reader; and so far from having flagged as I approached the completion of my task, I have gone on to the end with increased exertion, in evidence of which, as well as in conformity with my previous practice, I cite a few principal articles :

VIRGIL; VOLTAIRE; WALPOLE, Horace; WALTON, Isaac ; WARBURTON, Bp. ; WARD, Ned; WARE, Sir James; WASHINGTON; WEBSTER, Noah; The WESLEYS; WHATELEY, Abp. ; WHEWELL, William; WHITE, Gilbert; WHITE, Richard;
