BY THE REV. G. W. KERSHAW, M. A. RECTOR OF THWAITE, SUFFOLK. PUBLISHED IN THE HOPE OF ADDING TO A FUND FOR REPAIRING THE PARISH CHURCH OF THWAITE, SUFFOLK. EYE: PRINTED AND PUBLISHED BY R. NURSE; AND TO BE HAD ALSO OF LONGMAN AND CO. PATERNOSTER-ROW; AND MR. CHILD, BOOKSELLERS, WORCESTER. 1846. TO THE RIGHT REVEREND THE LORD BISHOP OF WORCESTER, THIS VOLUME OF SERMONS PREACHED IN THE PARISH CHURCH OF ST. NICHOLAS, WORCESTER, IS, BY HIS LORDSHIP'S KIND PERMISSION, RESPECTFULLY INSCRIBED. PREFACE. THE time which has elapsed since the following Sermons were written; and the fact that they were composed in the midst of many occupations, and with no view to publication; will, I trust, be received as a sufficient explanation, should any thoughts or expressions contained in them be traced to sources which I cannot recal. I have noticed those which I have been able to ascertain,—and would particularly mention the opening of the Seventh Sermon, as, in some measure, following in argument and order one on the same subject by Reading. |
