The kind feeling which has induced so many of my friends to assist me in promoting the object which has led to this publication; and to accept the motive as a sufficient apology for its appearance; assures me that it will not be severely judged. And if among my former parishioners, who have so liberally seconded my views; and to whom I am happy thus to offer my thanks-its perusal should awaken some kindly remembrance of their pastor; or recal them, or others, for a while, to reflections on the things which concern their peace; I shall have additional reason to be thankful.
