OF REPENTANCE.

O Lord, we have destroyed ourselves, but in thee is our help (Hos. xiii. 9).

Thou art long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Pet. iii. 9).

O that we may sorrow after a godly manner; with that sorrow which worketh repentance unto salvation not to be repented of (2 Cor. vii. 9).

May we remember and be confounded, and never open our mouth any more because of our shame, even when thou art pacified toward us for all that we have done (Ezek. xvi. 63).

May we remember our own evil ways, and our doings which were not good, and loathe ourselves in our own sight, for all our iniquities, and for all our abominations (Ezek. xx. 43).

Enable us to turn unto thee with all our heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning; and to rend our hearts, and not our garments, and turn unto the Lord our God; for thou art gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth thee of the evil (Joel ii. 12).

We will arise and go to our Father, and say unto him, Father we have sinned against heaven, and before thee: and are no more worthy to be called thy children (Luke xv. 18).

OF FAITH.

This is the work of God, that we believe on him whom he hath sent (John vi. 29).

He that believeth shall be saved, but he that believeth not shall be damned (Mark xvi. 16).

He that believeth on the Son, hath everlasting life; but he that believeth not the Son, shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him (John iii. 36).

By grace we are saved through faith; and that not of ourselves: it is the gift of God (Eph. ii. 8).

Enable us to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, that we may be saved (Acts xvi. 31). May we behold him as the Lamb of God, that taketh away the sin of the world (John i. 29).

May we count all things but loss, for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus our Lord; and but dung that we may win Christ, and be found in him; not having our own righte ousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith (Phil. iii. 8, 9).

May we be able truly to say, We are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh (Phil. iii. 3).

OF ABILITY FOR DUTY.

O Lord, we desire to trust in thee with all our heart, and not lean to our own understanding:

but in all our ways we would acknowledge thee, that thou mayest direct our paths (Prov. iii. 5). Lord give us that wisdom which is profitable to direct (Eccles. x. 10).

We are not sufficient of ourselves even to think any thing as of ourselves: our sufficiency is alone from thee (2 Cor. iii. 5).

Make thy grace sufficient for us; and make thy strength perfect in our weakness (2 Cor. xii. 9).

Make all grace to abound toward us; that we, having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work (2 Cor. ix. 8).

Cause thy righteousness to go before us, to set us in the way of thy steps (Ps. lxxxv. 13).

Make us to know the way wherein we should walk; for we lift up our souls unto thee. Teach us to do thy will; for thou art our God: thy Spirit is good; lead us into the land of uprightness (Ps. cxliii. 8).

Do thou instruct us, and teach us in the way that we should go with thine eye set upon us do thou show us direction (Ps. xxxii. 8).

We will go in the strength of the Lord God: we will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only (Ps. xxi. 16).

OF CHRISTIAN LOVE.

Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself (Matt. xxii. 39).

Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law (Rom.xiii. 10). For the end of the commandment is charity

(or love) out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned (1 Tim. i. 5).

May we, above all things, have fervent charity among ourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins (1 Pet. iv. 8).

May we be followers of God, as dear child. ren; and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour (Eph. v. 1).

May we love one another with a pure heart fervently being born again, not of corrup tible seed, but of incorruptible; by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever (1 Pet. i. 22).

We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren (1 John iii. 14).

OF CHRISTIAN MEEKNESS.

The fruit of the Spirit is meekness (Gal. v. 23). The Lord lifteth up the meek; but he casteth the wicked down to the ground (Ps. cxlvii. 6).

The meek will he guide in judgment; and the meek will he teach his way (Ps. xxv. 9). The meek shall eat and be satisfied; they shall praise the name of the Lord (Ps. xxii. 26). The meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace (Ps. xxxvii. 11).

Enable us to walk worthy of the vocation

wherewith we are called, with all lowliness and meekness, forbearing one another in love (Eph. iv. 1).

OF CHRISTIAN PATIENCE.

Enable us to lay aside every weight, and the sin that doth easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race set before us (Heb. xii. 1).

For we have need of patience, that, after we have done the will of God, we may receive the promise (Heb. x. 36).

Lord, strengthen us with all might, according to thy glorious power, unto all patience and long-suffering with joyfulness (Col. i. 11).

May the trial of our faith work patience, and may patience have her perfect work, that we may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing (James i. 3).

Let us not be slothful, but followers of them who, through faith and patience, inherit the promises (Heb. vi. 12).

Now, may the God of patience and consolation grant us to be like-minded one toward another, according to Christ Jesus; that we may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. xv. 5).

OF CHRISTIAN PEACEABLENESS.

The wisdom which is from above is first pure, tnen peaceable (James iii. 17).
