"Be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear."-1 Pet. iii. 15. THIS treatise has been written with the desire of suggesting a train of thought and argument, at once brief, connected, and so far as it goes, complete, in evidence of the Divine authority of Holy Scripture. The title has been chosen in allusion to the frequent recurrence of the word Testimony in the Bible itself, particularly in the Old Testament, as a significant designation of anything communicated to man for his moral guidance by special Divine agency.
