: : ארון בְּרִית־־יְהוָה וַיִּעֶל עלות וַעֲשׂ שְׁלָמִים וַיַּעַשׂ מִשְׁתֶּה לְכָל־עֲבָדָיו : אָז תָּבֹאנָה שְׁתַּיִם נָשִׁים זְנָוֹת אֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְ וַתַּעֲמֹדְנָה לְפָנָיו: וַתֹּאמֶר הָאִשָּׁה הָאַחַת בִּי אֲדֹנִי אֲנִי וְהָאִשָּׁה הַזֹּאת יִשְׁמֹת בְּבַיִת אֶחָד וָאֵלֶד עִמָּה בַּבַּיִת : וַיְהִי בַּיּוֹם הַשְׁלִישִׁי לְלַדְתִּי וַתֵּלֶד גַּם־ הָאִשָּׁה הַזְאת וַאֲנַחְנוּ יַחְדָּו אֵין־זָר אִתָּנוּ בַּבַּיִת זוּלָתִי שְׁתַּיִם אֲנַחְנוּ בַּבָּיִת: וַיָּמֶת בֶּן־הָאִשָּׁה הַזְאת לָיְלָה אֲשֶׁר שָׁכְבָה עָלָיו : וַתָּקָם בְּתוֹךְ הַלַּיְלָה וַתִּקְח אֶת־ בְּנִי מֵאֶצְלִי וַאֲמָתְךָ יְשֵׁנָה וַתַּשְׁכִּיבֵהוּ בְּחֵיקֶה וְאֶת־ בְּנָהּ הַמֶּת הִשְׁכִּיבָה בְחֵיקִיוָאָהֶם בַּבֹּקֶר לְהֵינִיק אֶת־ בְּנֵי וְהִנֵּה־מֵת וְאֶתְבּוֹנָן אֵלָיו בַּבֹּקֶר וְהִנֵּה לֹא־־הָיָה בְנִי אֲשֶׁר יָלֶרְתִּי: וַתֹּאמֶר הָאִשָּׁה הָאַחֶרֶת לֹא לִי בְּנֵי הַחַי וּבְנִךְ הַמֵת וְזָאת אֹמֶרֶת לֹא לִי בְּנָךְ הַמֶּת וּבְנִי הֶחָי וַתְּדַבֵּרְנָה לִפְנֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ: וַיֹּאמֶר הַמֶּלֶךְ זְאת אֹמֶרֶת זֶה--בְּנֵי הַחַי וּבְנֶךְ הַמֶּת וְזאת אֹמֶרֶת לֹא כִּי בְּנֵךְ הַמֶּת וּבְנֵי הֶחָי: וַיֹּאמֶר הַמֶּלֶךְ קְחוּ־לִי הָרב וַיָּבִיאוּ הַחֶרֶב לִפְנֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ: וַיֹּאמֶר הַמֶּלֶךְ בִּזְרוּ אֶת־ הַיָּלֶד הַחַי לִשְׁנָיִם וּתְנָוּ אֶת־הַחֲצִי לְאַחַת וְאֶת־הַחֲצִי לְאֶחָת : וַתֹּאמֶר הָאִשָּׁה אֲשֶׁר־בְּנָהּ הַחַי אֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְ כִּי־נִכְמְרוּ רַחֲמֶיהָ עַל־־בְּנָהּ וַתֹּאמֶר בִּי אֲדֹנִי תְּנוּ־ לָהּ אֶת־הַיָּלוּד הַחַי וְהָמֵת אַל־תְּמִיתֵהוּ וְאת אֹמֶרֶת פס־־לִי גַם־־לָךְ לֹא יִהְיֶה גְזְרוּ : וַיַּעַן הַמֶּלֶךְ וַיֹּאמֶר תְּנוּ־־לָהּ אֶת־־הַיָּלוּד הַחַי וְהָמֵת לֹא תְּמִיתֵהוּ הִיא אַמְוֹ: וַיִּשְׁמְעוּ כָל־יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת־הַמִּשְׁפָּט אֲשֶׁר שָׁפַט הַמֶּלֶךְ וַיִּרְאוּ מִפְּנֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ כִּי רָאוּ כִּי־חָכְמָת אֱלֹהִים בְּקִרְבּוֹ לַעֲשׂוֹת מִשְׁפָּט: וַיְהִי הַמֶּלֶךְ שְׁלמֹה מֶלֶךְ על־כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵל : : 1: : : and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god. Yet destroyest I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks, yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots, from beneath. Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite. And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord ? but ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink, and commanded the prophets, saying, prophesy not. Behold, I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves. Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself: neither shall he stand that handleth the bow, and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself, neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself; and he that is courageous among the mighty, shall flee away naked in that day, saith the Lord. Hear this.word that the Lord hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying, you only have I known of all the families of the earth : therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities. Can two walk together except they be agreed? Will a lion roar in the forest when he hath no prey ? Will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing? Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth where no gin is for him. Shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all? Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid ? Shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it? Surely, the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord God hath spoken, who can but prophesy? And Solomon awoke, and behold, it was a dream: and he came to Jerusalem, and : : ויין עָנוּשִׁים יִשְׁתּוּ בֵּית אֱלֹהֵיהֶם: וְאָנכִי הִשְׁמַדְתִּי אֶת־הָאֱמרִי מִפְּנֵיהֶם אֲשֶׁר בְּגְבַהּ אֲרָזִים גָּבְהוּ וְחָסְן הוּא בָּאַלוֹניִם וָאַשְׁמִיד פִּרְיוֹ מִמַּעַל וְשָׁרָשָׁיו מִתָּחַת: וְאָנֹכִי הֶעָלִיתִי אֶתְכֶם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם וָאוֹלֵךְ אֶתְכֶם בַּמִּדְבָּר אַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה לָרֶשֶׁת אֶת־אֶרֶץ הָאֱמֹרִי: וַאֲקִים מִבְּנֵיכֶם לִנְבִיאִים וּמִבַּחוּרֵיכֶס לִנְזִרִים הַאַף אֵין־לָאת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל נְאֻם־יְהוָה: וַתִּשְׁקְוּ אֶת־־הַנְזִרִים יָיִן וְעַל־ הַנְבִיאִים צְרִיהֶם לֵאמֹר לֹא תִּנָּבְאוּ: הִנֵּה אָנֹכִי מֵעֶיק תַּחְתֵּיכֶם כַּאֲשֶׁר תָּעִיק הָעַנְלָה הַמְלֵאָה לָה אָמִיר : וְאָבַד מָנוֹס מִקֶל וְחָזָק לֹא־אַמָּץ כֹּחוֹ וְגִבּוֹר לֹא־יָמַלֵט נַפְשׁוֹ : וְמֹפַט הַקְשֶׁת לֹא יַעֲמד וְקָל בְּרַגְלָיו לֹא יְמַלֵט וְרֹכֵב הַשׁוּס לָא יְמַלֵט נַפְשׁוֹ : וְאַמֶּץ לִבּוֹ בַּגִּבּוֹרִים עֶרֶוֹם יָנוּס בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא נְאָס־יְהוָה: שִׁמְעוּ אֶת הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּרְ יְהוָה עֲלֵיכֶם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל עַל כָּל־הַמִּשְׁפָּחָה אֲשֶׁר הֵעָלֵיתִי מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם לֵאמֹר: רַק אֶתְכֶם יָדַעְתִּי מִכָּל מִשְׁפְּחוֹת הָאֲדָמָה עַל־־כֵּן אֶפְקָד עֲלֵיכֶם אֵת כָּל־עֲנְתֵיכֶם: הַיֵלֶכְוּ שְׁנַיִם יַחְדָּו בִּלְתִּי אִם־־נוֹעֶרְוּ: הֲיִשְׁאַג אַרְיֵה בַּיַּעַר וְטֶרֶף אֵין לוֹ הִיתֵּן כְּפִיר קולו מִמְעָנָתוֹ בִּלְתִּי אִם־־לָכָך: הֲתִפּוֹל צִפּוֹר עַל־פַּח הָאֶרֶץ וּמוֹקֵשׁ אֵין לָהּ הֵיעֲלֶה־־פַּח מִן־הָאֲדָמָה וְלָכוֹד לֹא יִלְכָּוֹד : אִם־־יִתָּקַע שׁוֹפָר בְּעִיר וְעָם לְא חרדוּ אִם־תִּהְיֶה רָעָה בְּעִיר וַיהוָה לֹא עָשָׂה: כִּי לְא יעשה אֲדֹנָי יְהוָה דָבָר כִּי אִם־־גָלָה סוֹלוֹ אֶל־־עֲבָדָיו הַנְבִיאִים: אַרְיֵה שָׁאָג מִי לֹא יִירָא אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה דִּבֶּר מִי לֹא יִנָּבֵא : הפטרת מקץ : violence against thy brother Jacob, shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever. In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the stranger carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them; but thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother, in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah, in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress : thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity.; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity; nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity; neither shouldest thou have stood in the cross-way, to cut off those of bis that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress. For the day of the Lord is near upon all the heathens : as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee; thy reward shall return upon thine own head. For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been. But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness, and the house of Jacob shall possess their possession. And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them, and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the Lord hath spoken it. And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain, the Philistines : and they shall possess the field of Ephraim and the fields of Samaria, and Benjamin shall ' possess Gilead. And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south. Thus saith the Lord, for three transgressions of Israel, and for four I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes : that pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek; and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name, and they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge, by every altar, עֶשֶׂר מַקְטֶל: מֵחָמָס אָחִיךְ עֲקֶב תְּמַסְךְ בוּשָׁה וְנִכְרַתָּ לְעוֹלָם: בְּיוֹם עֲמָרְךָ מִבֶּגֶד בְּיוֹם שְׁבוֹת זָרִים חֵילו וְנָכְרִים בָּאוּ שְׁעָרָיו וְעַל־־יְרוּשָׁלַם יַדְוּ גוֹרָל גַּם־אַתָּה כְּאַחַד מֵהֶם: וְאַל־תֵּרֶא בְּיוֹם־אָחִיךְ בְּיוֹם נָכְרוֹ וְאַל־ תִּשְׂמַח לִבְנֵי־יְהוּדָה בְּיוֹם אָבְדָם וְאַל־תַּנְהֵל פִּיךְ בְּיוֹם צָרָה: אַל־תָּבוֹא בְּשַׁעַר־עַמִּי בְּיוֹם אֵידָם אַל־תֵּרֶא נס־אַתָּה בְּרָעָתוֹ בְּיוֹם אֵידוֹ וְאַל־תִּשְׁלַחְנָה בְחֵילוֹ בְּיוֹם אֵידְו : וְאַל־תַּעֲמד עַל־הַפֶּרֶק לְהַכְרִית אֶת־־פְּלִיטָיו וְאַל־תַּסְבֵּר שְׂרִידָיו בְּיוֹם צָרָה: כִּי־קָרוֹב יוֹם־־יְהוָה על־־כָּל־־הַגּוֹיִם כַּאֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתָ יַעֲשֶׂה לָךְ בְּמֶלֶךְ יָשׁוּב בְּרֹאשֶׁךָ: כִּי כַּאֲשֶׁר שְׁתִיתָם עַל־הַר קָדְשִׁי יִשְׁתּוּ כָל־ הַגּוֹיִם תָּמִיד וְשָׁתוּ וְלָשׁוּ וְהָיוּ כְּלְוֹא הָיוּ : וּבְהַר צִיוֹן תִּהְיֶה פְּלֵיטָה וְהָיָה קֹדֶשׁ וְיָרְשׁוּ בֵּית יַעֲקֹב אֵת מְוֹרָשֵׁיהֶם: וְהָיָה בֵית־יַעֲקב אֵשׁ וּבֵית יוֹסֵף לֶהָבָה וּבֵית עֲשָׂר לְקַשׁ וְדֶלְקוּ בָהֶם וַאֲכָלָוּם וְלֹא־יִהְיֶה שָׂרִיד לְבֵית עֵשָׂו כִּי יְהוָה דִּבֶּר : וְיָרְשׁוּ הַנָּגֶב אֶת הַר עֵשָׂו וְהַשְׁפֵלָה אֶת־פְּלִשְׁתִּים וְיָרְשׁוּ אֶת־שְׂדֵה אֶפְרַיִם וְאֵת שְׂרֵה שְׁמְרוֹן וּבִנְיָמֶן אֶת־הַגִּלְעֶר : וְנֶלֶת הַחֵל--הזֶּה לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר־כְּנַעֲנִים עַר־צָרְפַת וְנָלֶת יְרוּשָׁלַם אֲשֶׁר בִּסְפָרֵר יִרְשׂוּ אֵת עָרֵי הַנֶגֶב: וְעָלְוּ מְוֹשִׁיעִים בְּהַר צִיּוֹן לִשְׁפַּט אֶת־הַר עֵשָׂו וְהָיְתָה לַיהוָה הַמְלוּכָה : הפטרת וישב בעמוס סימן ב כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה עַל־שְׁלשָׁה פִּשְׁעֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְעַל־אַרְבָּעָה לֹא אֲשִׁיבֶנּוּ עַל־מִכְרָם בַּכָּסֶף צַדִיק וְאֶבְיוֹן בַּעֲבוּר נַעֲלַיִם: הַשְׁאֲפִים עַל־עֲפַר־אֶרֶץ בְּרְאש דֵלִים וְדֶרֶךְ עֲנָנִים יַטוּ וְאִישׁ וְאָבִיו יִלְכוּ אֶל־־הנערה לְמַעַן חלל אֶת־שֵׁם קָדְשִׁי : וְעַל־בְּגָדִים חֲבָלִים יַשׂוּ אֵצֶל כָּל־מִזְבַּח |
