HEA

PSALM LV.

EAR my prayer, O God, and hide not thyself from my petition.

Take heed into me, and hear me; how I mourn in my prayer, and am troubled.

My heart is disquieted within me, and the fear of death is fallen upon me.

Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and an horrible dread hath overwhelmed me. And I said, O that I had wings like a dove; for then would I flee away, and be at rest.

Lo, then would I get me away far off, and remain in the wilderness.

I would make haste to escape from the stormy wind and tempest.

But yet I will call upon God, and the LORD shall save me.

In the evening, and morning, and at noonday will I pray, and that instantly; and he shall hear my voice.

O cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall nourish thee, and shall not suffer the righteous to fall for ever.

PSALM VI.

LORD, rebuke me not in thine indignation;

neither chasten me in thy heavy displeasure. Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am weak; O LORD, heal me, for my bones tremble.

My soul also is sore troubled; but, LORD, how long wilt thou punish me?

Turn thee, O LORD, and deliver my soul; O save me for thy mercies' sake.

Depart from me, all ye who work vanity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping. The LORD hath heard my petition; the LORD will receive my prayer.

PSALM XLII.

S the hart panteth after the water brooks, so longeth my soul after thee, O God.

My soul is athirst for God, yea, even for the living God; when shall I come and appear before God?

My tears have been my food day and night; while they continually say unto me, Where is now thy God?

When I remember these things I pour out my soul in grief: how I once walked with the multitude to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with the multitude that kept holy day.

Why art thou so full of heaviness, O my soul; and why art thou so disquieted within me?

Put thy trust in God; for I will yet give him thanks for the help of his countenance.

Once the LORD granted his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night season did I sing unto him, and made my prayer unto the God of my life.

Now I say unto the God my strength, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I thus heavily, while the enemy oppresseth me?

As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is now thy God?

Why art thou so cast down, O my soul; and why art thou so disquieted within me?

O put thy trust in God; for I will yet thank him, who is the help of my countenance, and my God.

FIRST FORM OF SERVICE.

The Minister shall say one or more of the following sentences, and then the Address which comes after; all standing.

WHAT

WHAT prayer or what supplication soever shall be made of any man or of all thy people, when every one shall know his own sore and his own grief, and shall spread forth his hands in this house: hear thou from thy dwelling-place, even from heaven; and when thou hearest, forgive. (2 Chron. vi. 29, 30.)

Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts. (Ps. xcvi. 8.)

If thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee; leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. (Matt. v. 23, 24.)

In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. (Ps. lxii. 7, 8.)

Surely the LORD is in this place. This is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven. (Gen. xxviii. 16, 17.)

O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto Him with psalms. (Ps. xcv. I, 2.)

ARLY

EARLY beloved brethren, let us draw nigh to the throne of grace in the spirit of Jesus Christ, that we may offer to our heavenly Father the spiritual worship which he seeketh. So will our voice ascend as that of children, and bring down a Father's blessing.

The Minister shall then say the following Prayer; the People responding with "AMEN."

OT as being worthy, but trusting in thy lovingkindness, O God most High, we draw near to thee. Not as we would, but as we are able, we bring to thee our devout offerings. Purify us, we beseech thee, from all guile; unite us to one another in the bonds of love and peace; pour down upon us thy spiritual gifts, and grant us every blessing in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.
