When the Body has been lowered into the Grave, the Minister shall say:

FORASMUCH as it hath pleased God of his

great mercy to take unto himself the life of our dear brother here departed, we therefore commit his body to the ground; earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust; in sure and certain hope of a resurrection to eternal life, through our Lord. Jesus Christ; who will change this corruptible body, that it may be like unto his glorious body; according to the mighty working, whereby he is able to subdue all things to himself.

Or,

'HE dust returns to dust, and the spirit unto God who gave it: therefore do we now commit the body of our dear departed brother to the grave; in the blessed hope that as he has borne the image of the earthy, so also he shall bear the image of the heavenly, through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Then shall be said:

HEARD a voice from heaven, saying unto me, Write, From henceforth blessed are the dead who die in the Lord: Even so, saith the Spirit; for they rest from their labours, and their works do follow them.

Then shall the Minister say the following Collect:

GOD, our heavenly Father, grant that we sor

row not as those who know not the promises of thy holy gospel; but may we look forward to the great gathering of thy faithful servants and children into their everlasting home. O thou in whom we trust, help us by thy grace, that we may live as the heirs of this blessed and glorious hope, which thou hast set before us in thy Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

And this Benediction:

HE grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy

Spirit, be with us all evermore. Amen.

ORDER OF CONFIRMATION.

Those about to be confirmed standing in order before the Minister, he shall say:

DEARLY

EARLY beloved, in your infancy, when you could not know the blessedness of the Christian religion, those who best loved you expressed in the most solemn manner, with prayer to Almighty God, their desire that you should be partakers of this inestimable blessedness; and pledged themselves to instruct you in the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. You have now reached an age at which it might reasonably be hoped that you would, by your own voluntary act, take upon yourselves the responsibility of a public Christian profession: and forasmuch as you have signified your desire so to do, let me ask you in the presence of this congregation, Will you renounce the fellowship of evil, and endeavor to learn and do the will of God as revealed by Jesus Christ?

Each of those about to be confirmed shall audibly answer:

HESE persons now before you, having prepared themselves by study with your ministers and by meditation by themselves, and knowing what is expected of those who become members of a Christian church, come now to be received into this church. In your name I receive them and ask you to give them your support as they offer you their support, in helpfulness to men, and in walking before God in righteousness of life for all days to come.

And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
