OUTGOINGS OF THE MORNING AND

EVENING TO REJOICE.”—Ps. lxv. 8-13.

SUNRISE and sunset! with their glowing colour; so beautiful; such a wealth of daily beauty, showing us something of the beauty of the Lord with Whom we have to do. In the morning of their birth, they sang for joy, but hardly such a song as this, when the life of God dawns in a soul. Morning and evening beauty sometimes meet in the soul. It was so with the thief on the cross: sunrise and sunset met in him; and he sang so well that Jesus took him at once to the choir above.

God makes the new life, and He loves the bright look of the new saint. He loves new things, so He has a plan to keep them new. He makes His gifts new every morning; new sun, new dew, new verdure, until the day when He says, "Behold, I make all things new!"

How to make this a New Year, very new. We find it here. It is by always saying, "Thou!" (ten times in lxv. 8-11).

First it is, "Thou visitest." You see it all begins up there; it does not come from us. He comes
