SMALL KNITTED SHETLAND SCARF. DESIGNED BY MRS. WARREN. Half an oz. of Colored, Shaded or Half an oz. of White Shetland Wool. Plain. Two Bone or Wood pins, No. 6. Cast on 6 stitches for each pattern and 4 extra each side for the edge. The width is 8 patterns, and the length, 6 stripes of White, 5 of Colored, 3 patterns in each stripe. 1st Row.-Slip 1, knit 3,* make 1, knit 1, make 1, knit 2 together, knit 1, knit 2 together, repeat from,* knit the 4 last stitches plain. 2nd Row.-Knit 4, pearl all but 4, knit 4 plain. 3rd Row.-Slip 1, knit 3,* make 1, knit 3, make 1, slip 1, knit 2 together, pull slip stitch over, repeat from,* knit the 4 last plain. 4th Row.-Same as 2nd row. 5th Row.-Slip 1, knit 3,* knit 2 together, knit 1, knit 2 together, make 1, knit 1, make 1, repeat from,* knit the 4 last plain. 6th Row.-Same as 2nd row. 7th Row.-Slip 1, knit 3,* slip 1, knit 2 together, pull slip stitch over, make 1, knit 3, make 1, repeat from,* knit the 4 last plain. 8th Row.-Same as 2nd row. Wind some Colored Shetland Wool double. Net on to each end 5 rows, then cut some White Shetland into lengths of 12 inches, take 3 threads of this place through a stitch of the netting, bringing the ends equal, and tie it in a firm knot, do this into every stitch of the netting, comb and cut the ends off evenly.
