Journey; & they overtook him in the mount Gilead. 24 And God came to La ban the Syrian in a dream by night, and faid unto him, Take heed that thou fpeak not to Jacob either good or bad.. 25 Then Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pirched his tent in the mount and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mount of Gilead. 25 And Laban faid to Ja cob, What hast thou done, that thou hal tollen away unawares to me, and car ried away my daughters as captives saken with the fword? 27 Wherefore didst thou flee awayfecretly, and fleal away from me? and didft not tell me, that I might have fent thee away with mirth, and with fongs, with tabret,and with harp 28 And haft not fuffered me to kifs my fons and my daughters? thou haft now done foolishly info doing. 29 It is in the power of my hand to do you hart but theGod of your father fpake unto me yefternight, faying, Take thou heed that thou fpeak not to Jacob either good or bad. 30 And now though thou wouldeft needs be gone, becaufe thou fore longedit after thy fathers houfe; yet wherefore haft thou fol. len my gods? 31 And Jacob anfwered and faid to Laban, Becaufe I was afraid: for I fald, Peradventre thou would eft take by force thy daughters from me. 32 With whomfoever thou findest thy gods, let him nor live: before our brethren difcern thou what is thine with me,and take it to thee: for Jacob knew not that Rachel had ftollen them. 33 And Laban went into Jacobs tent, and into Le. ahs tent, and into the two maid fervants rents? bur he found them not. Then went he out of Leahs rent, and entred into Rachels tent. 34 Now Rachel had ta ken the images, and pur them in the camels furni ture, and fat upon them: and Laban fearched all the tent, but found them not. 35 And the faid to her fa ther, Let It not difpleafe my lord that I cannot rife up before thee; for the cuftom of women is upor me: and he fearched but found not the images. 36And Jacob was wroth, and |
