ADDENDA.

Below are the names of a few Life Directors and Life Members which have been found by the General Agent since the foregoing tables were made up so as to preclude their insertion in the proper place.

Should any errors or omissions be detected in the tables, we wish to be informed of it, that the proper corrections may be made in the next report.

All the members of the American and Foreign Bible Society are of course regarded as its friends and patrons; and on their agency to a considerable extent, the Managers rely for continued and increased support. It is therefore desirable that we should have a correct list of their names and post offices, that they may be furnished regularly with the Reports of the Society, and thus have the means of communicating important information to others, that a proper stimulus to action may be kept up, new interest awakened and fresh zeal excited.

At which Bibles and Testaments are sold by the American and Foreign Bible Society, at their Depository, No. 12 Chambers-street, New-York.

The above are the Society's lowest terms, being the actual cost of the books; and considering the superior style of execution, it is believed that cheaper volumes have not been presented to the public.

On the three following pages are specimens of the 18mo. Testament, the 12mo. Bible, and the 8vo. Testament.

10 And he was teaching in one of the Synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. 12 And when Jesus saw her, he calleding of teeth, when ye shall see Abraher to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thy infirmity. 13 And he laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

14 And the ruler of the Synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the Sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day. 15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?

16 And ought not this woman being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?

31 The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence; for Herod will kill thee.

32 And he said unto them, Go ye and tell that Fox, behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.

33 Nevertheless, I must walk to day and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a Prophet perish out of Jerusalem.

17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and 34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which all the people rejoiced for all the glo-killest the Prophets, and stonest them rious things that were done by him. 18 Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?

19 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden, and it grew, and waxed a great tree and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.

20 And again he said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God?

21 It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

GENESIS.

[blocks in formation]

:

3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it because that in it he had rested from all his work, which God created and made.

4 These are the generations of the heavens, and of the earth, when they were created; in the day that the LORD God made the earth, and the heavens,

5 And every plant of the field, before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field, before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food: the tree of life also in the midst of the

Marriage instituted.

12 And the gold of that land is good: There is Bdellium and the Onyx stone. 13 And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.

14 And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria: and the fourth river is Euphrates.

15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden, to dress it, and to keep it.

16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat.

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof, thou shalt surely die.

18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone: I will make him a help meet for him.

19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air, and brought them unto Adam, to see what he would call them and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field: but for Adam there was not found a help meet for him. 21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof.

22 And the rib which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man.

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife and they shall be one flesh. 25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. CHAP. III.
