Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge.

There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.

Their line hath gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,

Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit to the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from his heat. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever: the judg ments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

GOD over all, forever blessed, we would worship thee in reverence, and gratitude, and joy. As the sun in the heavens doth rise and shine down upon our dwellings, so may the light of thy truth and thy love rise and shine upon our souls. Thou dost bring the dawn out of darkness; grant unto us also that true knowledge of thee which shall enlighten us in all our

ways. Thou dost beset us behind and before, numbering the very hairs of our heads, giving unto us discerning minds, and offering unto us that Spirit which maketh us truly free. Praise unto thee, thou everlasting Helper, for thine infinite compassions. May they entreat us every day to consecrate ourselves unto thee, and may they remind us that our life is a solemn trust.

Known unto thee, Father, are all thy works from the foundation of the world, the duties, the perplexities and the joys, which are appointed for each day of thy children's lot. Prepare us, O thou, who knowest our mortal frame, for all that shall befall us, that in our prosperity we may not be high-minded; that in our adversity we may be drawn very closely unto him who pitieth us every day, and doth encompass our weakness with his almighty power. Earnestly do we seek of thee the forgiveness of those sins that have darkened our past lives. Enable us, in the humblest reliance upon the only Mediator, to build again that which is fallen down, and to walk in ways more excellent. Keep us from presumptuous sins, and cleanse us from secret faults. Establish us in that law of the Lord which converts the soul, and in those statutes of the Lord which rejoice the heart. Let there be health and peace in this dwelling. Save us from foolish anxieties. May we believe that the Lord will provide. Striving each one of us to bear his own burden, may we do good to our brethren as

we shall have opportunity, and freely give as we have freely received.

We commend the young to him who, whilst he was yet with us in bodily presence, took little children into his loving arms. May they feel that the gracious Lord still loveth them, and is ready to send to their hearts the Holy Spirit of consolation and peace. O God, be very near to our kindred and friends. We would ever remember them in our morning prayer. O thou, unto whom all souls are present, hear the prayers of the afflicted; watch over those who travel by land or by water, and may the sweet influences of the Gospel gladden and redeem many hearts. We ask it through him who is evermore the way. Amen.

XXXI.

Faithfulness in Duty.

Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort 'the feeble-minded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

See that none render evil for evil to any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves and to all men. Rejoice evermore.

Pray without ceasing.

In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Quench not the Spirit.

Despise not prophesyings.

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Abstain from all appearance of evil.

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body may be preserved blameless, to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

O THOU, in whom we live, and move, and have our being. Unto thee, the giver of every good gift to the body and the soul, we lift up our hearts in gratitude and in love. Every day would we bless thee, and we would praise thy name for ever and ever. We would fervently thank thee for life, for health, for the pleasures of the senses; for the various enjoyments of our nature; for the manifold privileges of our lot; for the holy and tender ties which bind us to each other; above all, for the means of spiritual progress offered unto us by thy providence and thy grace ; for the heavenly mission of thy Son; for the sanctifying, cheering and comforting truths of his word; for the quickening example of his life; and for all the blessed influences which are ever flowing out from him upon the hearts and lives of his disciples.

And now, O God, God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, as we enter on the duties of another day, may we go to them in the spirit of our Master; in a devout, pure, faithful spirit; abhorring that which is evil, cleaving to that which is good; in love to thee, in love to each other, in love to our neighbors, in love to our fellow-men. And wherever we are, whatever

we do, whatever we

thou, God, seest us.

suffer, may we remember that In all our temptations, and in all our trials, may the thought of thy presence be as a light to our feet and a lamp to our path. Be with us in our daily labors, and crown them with thy blessing. May they be hallowed by fidelity, and truth, and kindness; and may we look through them to thee, and above them to the prize to which, in the midst of all, thou art ever calling us from on high, through Christ Jesus.

O thou who knowest the secrets of all hearts, forgive us, in thine infinite mercy, the sins of the past. Strengthen our good purposes for the future. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Prepare us for the changes that are before us, hidden from our sight, but known unto thee. Prepare us for prosperity and for adversity, for health and for sickness, for life and for death.

O thou who art our God and the God of all the families of the earth, bless this our home, and make it a Christian and a happy home, consecrated to thee. Bring our souls more and more into harmony with all truth and goodness. Unite them to thyself in the bonds of a filial piety, and to each other in a true affection, and to all men in a large and tender-hearted charity and good will; that so we may be indeed the children of our heavenly Father, and the disciples of him whose love was the image of thine. And through him to thee be all glory and praise forever. Amen.
