It is hoped that the insertion of the following Letters may not be deemed arrogant. The Author could adduce many more handsome eulogiums if necessary.

RESPECTED FRIEND,

66

Limerick, November 18, 1813.

"My attention has been so much engaged by thy System that it has nearly prevented me from thinking of any other subject, and my anxiety relative to its general application is now at rest. I have no doubt of its being "applicable to any subject-Language, Science, &c. &c.-Indeed so simple "does thy System appear to me, and so close the connexion which subsists "between its parts, that I am satisfied I can convince thee, that the remaining part of thy Course is no secret to me, though I have heard only the first "Lecture. I should think myself wanting in common sincerity if I with "held this communication, and I am not less influenced by a sense of duty, "than of gratitude, as I consider thy System a high benefit to the public, "and to me as an individual.

"We cannot permit you to leave town, without thus jointly expressing to you the very great satisfaction we have had, in attending your Course of "Lectures on the art of assisting the Memory. We are well aware of the great and almost general prejudice you have to encounter, in consequence of the absurd pretensions and perplexed Systems of some who have pre"ceded on in teaching Mnemonics: yet the simplicity and admirable inven“tion displayed in your System, fully convince us that, to be approved and "received, it requires only to be known; and engage us to hope that, by per"severance in its dissemination, you will ere long surmount every obstacle. "Wishing you all prosperity, we are,
