False confidence renounced. I that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:

5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; b

6 Concerning zeal, c persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. f

7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss h for Christ.

8 Yea, doubtless, and I count all things but loss for i the excellency of the know ledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have m suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.

9 And be found in him, not having mine own q righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness r which is of God by faith:

10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the u fellowship of his sufferings, being made con formable unto his death;

11 If by any means I might v attain unto the resurrection of the dead. 12 Not as though I had already attain ed, either were already perfect: but! follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting z those things which are be hind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14 I press a toward the mark for the prize of the high b calling of God in Christ Jesus.

15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, d be thus e minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

16 Nevertheless, whereto we have al ready attained, let us walk by the same rule, h let us mind the same thing.

17 Brethren, be followers i together of me, and mark them which walk so, as ye have us k for an ensample.

18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies I of the cross of Christ;

19 Whose end m is destruction, whose God n is their belly, and whose glory o is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) 20 For our conversation p is in heaven; from whence also we look q for the Sa viour, the Lord Jesus Christ;

21 Who shall change r our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even u to subdue all things unto himself.

CHAP. IV.

THEREFORE, my brethren dearly be loved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

2 I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.

3 And I entreat thee also, true yoke. fellow, help those women which labour. ed with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellow-labourers, whose names are in the book of life.

9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will, u in all wisdom w and spiritual understanding: z

19 For it pleased the Father that in him a should all fulness dwell.

21 And you, that were sometime alien. ated, and enemies 2 in your mind 3 by wicked works, yet now hath he recon ciled,

25 Whereof I am made a minister, ac cording to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, 4 to fulfil the word of God;

26 Even the mystery t which hath been hid from ages and from genera tions, but now y is made manifest to his saints:

27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the e hope of glory:

28 Whom we preach, warning f every man, and teaching h every man in all wisdom; that k we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

29 Whereunto m I also labour, striving according to his working, which work eth in me mightily.

3 In 8 whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile y you with enticing words.

5 For though I be absent in the flesh yet am I with you in the Spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.

8 But now ye also put off all these anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed ƒ in knowledge after the image of him that created hiin:

11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

12. Put on therefore, as the eleet of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering;

13 Forbearing m one another, and forgiving o one another, if any man have a quarrel 2 against any even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

14 And above all these things put on charity, q which is the bond of perfect

ness.

15 And let the peace s of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 16 Let the word u of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and ad monishing one another in psalms v and hymns and spiritual songs, singing wi h grace in your hearts to the Lord.

17 And whatsoever x ye do in work or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

18 Wives, a submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. 19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

20 Children, c obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. 22 Servants, e obey in all things your masters according to the flesh: not with eye-service, as men-pleasers; but in sin. gleness of heart, fearing God:

23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartly, as to the Lord and not unto men; 24 Knowing, that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons. CHAP. IV.

MASTERS, give unto your servan's

3 Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:

4 That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.

5 Walk in wisdomp toward them that are without, redeeming the time.

6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned r with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
