Concerning the beloved Disciple. 22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, b what is that to thee? Follow c thou me.

23 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? 24 This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and g we know that his testimony is true.

25 And h there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the i books that should be written Amen.

18 Now e this man purchased a field with the reward f of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

19 And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood. 20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let i his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and, l His bishopric 2 let another take.

21 Wherefore of these men m which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, 22 Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

23 And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, s who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which u knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,

25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LaDe said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked i in their heart,and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what k shall we do?

38 Then Peter said unto them, I Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins; and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise p is unto you, and to your children, and q to all that are afar off, even as manyas thelord ourGod shall call. 40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save your selves from this untoward generation.

41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

42 And s they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

43 And fear came upon every soul: and many u wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

44 And all that believed were together, and w had all things common;

45 And sold their possessions and goods, and y parted them to all men, as every man had need.

46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking 1 bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

47 Praising God, and having favour d with all the people. And f the Lord added to the church dailysuch as should be saved, CHAP. III.

NOW Peter and John went up together into the temple at i the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.

4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him, with John, said, Look on us. 5 And he gave heed unto them, expect ing to receive something of them.

6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold hav I none: but such as I have give I thee In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.

7 And he took him by the right hand, and lift him up: and immediately his fect and ancle-bones received strength.

Opposition of the Priests. 6 And Annas a the high priest, and Caia. phas,andJohn,and Alexander,and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.

7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By c what power, or by what name, have ye done this?

8 Then Peter, filled d with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

9 If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;

10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that k by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

11 This is the stone o which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for r there is none other & name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.

13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned u and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. 14 And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing x against it.

15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,

16 Saying, What c shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle bath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.

17 But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that g they speak henceforth to no man in this name.

18 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

19 Bt Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to h hearken unto yo more than unto God, judge ye.

20 For i we cannot but speak the things which k we have seen and heard.

21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because m of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.

22 Forthe man was aboveforty years old on whomthis miracle of healing was shewed. 23 And being let go, they went q to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them. 24 And when they heard that, they lift up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, s thou art God, which hast made heaven and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is;

25 Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why t did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? 26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together, against the Lord, and against his Christ.

23 Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety,and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within. 24 Now when the high priest and w the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow.

25 Then came one and told them, say. ing, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.

26 Then went the captain with the offi cers, and brought them without violence. for b they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.

27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,

28 Saying, Did not we straitly com mand you, that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Je rusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood h upon us.

29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We i ought to obey God rather than men.

30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged A on a tree. 31 Him hath God exalted m with his right hand to be a n Prince and a o Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

32 And we are his witnesses q of these things; & so is also the Holy Ghost,r whom God hath given to them that obey him.

33 When they heard that, they s were cut to the heart,and took counsel to slaythem 34 Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel,u a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space:

35 And said unto them. Ye men of Is rael, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.
