The bill so reported, being the House substitute for House bill No. 69, was taken up, and the following amendment, offered by the committee, was read first and second times and adopted:

Amend by way of substitute by striking out all after the enacting clause and inserting the following in lieu thereof:

Sec. 1. Section one thousand one hundred and fifty-five of the Revised Statutes of Missouri is hereby amended by striking out the words "first," "April" and "October," in fourth line of said section, and inserting in lieu thereof the words "third," "May" and "November," so that said section, as amended, shall read as follows: Sec. 1155. In the eleventh judicial circuit in the county of Chariton, on the third Mondays of February, June and October; in the county of Linn, on the first Mondays of June and December; in the county of Sullivan, on the third Mondays of May and November; in the county of Grundy, on the third Monday in April, and on the first Mondays in August and January; in the county of Mercer, on the second Mondays in March and September.

By unanimous consent, Senator Cabell introduced Senate bill No. 131, entitled "An act to amend section 6659, chapter 145 of the Revised Statutes, 1879, title Taxation and equalization,' so as to include historical societies in subjects of exemption;" which was read first time and 50 copies ordered printed.

Senator Heard presented a petition from various ministers of the gospel praying for the passage of a marriage license law; which was referred to the Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence.

Senator Hutt moved that when the Senate adjourns it adjourn until to-morrow morning at 10 o'clock; agreed to.

On motion of Senator Rouse, the Senate adjourned.
