Senator Manistre introduced Senate bill No. 243, entitled "An act to amend chapter 129, Revised Statutes, 1879, on merchants licenses ;" which was read first time and ordered not printed.

Senator Manring submitted the following report from the Committee on Township Organization:

Senator Rogers submitted the following report from the Committee on State Lands:

MR. PRESIDENT: Your Committee on State Lands, to whom was referred Senate bill No. 142, entitled "An act to amend the laws in relation to the sale and lease of the Agricultural College lands, and the investment of the proceeds as a fund for the endowment and support. of the Agricultural and Mechanical College and School of Mines and Metallurgy, being a department of the State University," beg leave to report that they have considered the same, and recommend that it do pass with the accompanying amendment.

Senate bill No. 142 was taken up ond the following amendments, reported by the Committee, were agreed to:

No. 1.-Amend by adding at the end of section 17 the following: "The fees allowed to recorders for their services, under this act, shall not be considered as a part of the fees of their office, as allowed under existing laws in relation to fees of recorders, but shall be in addition thereto."

No. 2.-Amend section 21 by striking out the word "two," where it occurs in lines 21 and 29, and inserting in lieu thereof the word "three."

The bill, as amended, was ordered engrossed.

Senator Naylor submitted the following report from the Committee on Insurance, which was read:

MR. PRESIDENT: Your Committee on Insurance to whom was recommitted substitute for Senate bill No. 92, entitled "An act to enable insurance companies other than life to surrender their special charters and accept in lieu thereof the provisions of the general Insurance statutes, and to empower companies doing a stock and mutual business to continue the one and discontinue the other," beg leave to report that they have considered the same, and recommend that it do pass with the accompanying substitute.

Substitute for Senate bill No. 92, offered by the committee, was taken up, read first and second times and ordered printed.

Senator DeArmond offered the following amendment, which was agreed to:
