On motion of Senator Morrisson, the Senate went into Committee of the Whole on Senate bill No. 67.

When the committee rose Senator Hutt submitted the followiug repert:

MR. PRESIDENT: Your Committee of the Whole Senate, to whom was referred Senate bill No. 67, entitled "An act to revise and amend chapter 150 of the General Statutes of Missouri, 'Of schools,"" beg leave to report that they have considered the same, and report the accompanying substitute therefor, and recommend that the substitute be adopted.

The substitute for Senate bill No. 67, reported by the committee, was read first and second times, adopted and ordered engrossed.

Senator DeArmond submitted the following report from Committee on Judiciary, which was read:

MR. PRESIDENT: Your Committee on Judiciary, to whom was referred Senate bill No. 247, entitled "An act to provide for the indexing of the minutes of judges of courts of record in certain cases," beg leave to report that they have considered the same, and recommend that it do pass.

Senator DeArmond submitted the following report from the Committee on Judiciary, which was read:

Substitute for House Bill No. 155 was taken up and the following amendment, reported by the committee, was adopted:

Amend by prefixing to the first line, after the enacting clause, the following: "Section 1;" and by prefixing to the 13th line, "Section 2;" and by inserting "the" between "with" and "like" in the eleventh line; and by striking out "on" between "founded" and "contract" in the 12th line, and inserting "upon" in lieu thereof; and by striking out "and" between "slander" and "libel" in the 23d line and inserting "or" in lieu thereof; and by striking out "and" between "word" and "between" in the 19th line of the bill and inserting "or" in lieu thereof.

Senator DeArmond submitted the following report from the Committee on Judiciary, which was read:

MR. PRESIDENT: Your Committee on Judiciary, to whom was referred House bill No. 376, entitled "An act authorizing the county courts of all counties in this state which are within the territorial jurisdiction of the St. Louis Court of Appeals to furnish the courts of record of said counties with copies of the reports of the decisions of the Court

Senator Edwards of St. Charles submitted the following report from the Committee on Engrossed Bills, which was read:

PRESIDENT: Your Committee on Engrossed Bills to whom was referred Senate bill No. 192, entitled "An act to provide for greater security to the State arms and to encourage the organization of volunteer militia companies," beg leave to report that they have compared the same and find it to be truly engrossed, and that the printed copies thereof furnished to the Senators are correct.

On third reading of House bills, House bill No. 400, entitled "An act to amend section 4145, chapter 77, Revised Statutes, 'Of asylums,' was taken up, read third time, and failed to pass by the following vote:

AYES-Senators Bland, Caldwell, Mackey and Rouse-4.

NOES-Senators Allen, Bryant, Cottey, DeArmond, Dobyns, Gottschalk, Heard, Heaston, Hutt, Lloyd, McMahan, Mabrey, Manistre, Manring, Morrisson, Pehle, Perkins, Stephens and Walker-19.

ABSENT Senators Bradley, Byrns, Cabell, Dungan, Edwards of Lafayette, Edwards of St. Charles, Headlee, Jacobs, McGrath, Naylor and Rogers-11.

Senator Heaston moved to reconsider the vote by which the bill failed to pass. Carried.

The question then recurring upon the passage of the bill, it passed by the following vote:

The title of the bill was read and agreed to.

Senator Cottey moved that when the Senate adjourn it adjourn until to-morrow morning at 10 o'clock; which was agreed to. On motion of Senator Bradley, the Senate adjourned.
