Senator Dobyns presented two petitions from citizens of Shelby county, Missouri, praying for a constitutional amendment prohibiting the manufacture and sale of intoxicating liquors; referred to Committee on Constitutional amendments.

Senator Stephens presented a petition from citizens of Boone county, Missouri, praying for a constitutional amendment prohibiting the manufacture and sale of intoxicating liquors in this State; referred to Committee on Constitutional Amendments.

Senator Hutt submitted the following reports from the Committee on Engrossed Bills, which were read:

MR. PRESIDENT: Your Committee on Engrossed Bills to whom was referred substitute for Senate bill No. 92, entitled "An act to enable insurance companies, other than life, to surrender their special charters and accept in lieu thereof the provisions of the general insurance statutes," beg leave to report that they have compared the same and find it to be truly engrossed, and that the printed copies thereof furnished to the Senators are correct.

Senator Heard moved to reconsider the vote by which the bill passed, and to lay the motion to reconsider on the table; the latter motion prevailed.

Senator Edwards of St. Charles was granted leave of absence until next Monday.

Senate bill No. 138 was taken up, and Senator Hutt moved to reconsider the vote by which the bill was ordered to engrossment; which was agreed to.

The bill was then recommitted to the Committee on Internal Improvements.

House bill No. 185, entitled "An act creating a board of health for the State of Missouri, defining its duties and powers, and fixing the compensation of its officers," was taken up and read first time.

Senator Cottey moved that when the Senate adjourn it adjourn until 24 o'clock P. M., which was agreed to.

Senator Mackay called up Senate bill No. 192, and moved to reconsider the vote by which it was ordered engrossed; which was agreed to.

Senator Mackay then offered the following amendment, which was read and ordered printed:

An act, to provide for the care and keeping of the State arms, accoutrements and military property, and to appropriate money therefor. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:

SECTION 1. For the purpose of properly caring for the State arms, accoutrements and military property, and affording protection and security therefor, each cavalry company and each battery of artillery, organized under the militia laws of the State, shall, upon the requisition of the company or battery commander, and upon the approval of the proper battalion or regimental and brigade officers and the commander-in-chief, receive, in quarterly payments the sum of three hundred dollars per annum. Each company of infantry so organized shall, in like manner and for the same purpose, receive two hundred dollars per annum: Provided, however, such organization shall receive said. sums or such proportional lesser sums as may be necessary to prevent such aggregate sum from exceeding the appropriation herinafter made.

SEC. 2. There is hereby appropriated, out of any money in the revenue fund not otherwise appropriated, the sum of ten thousand dollars for the purposes designated in the foregoing section.
