The President announced that all other business would be suspended, and directed Senate bill No. 85, entitled "An act to appropriate money to pay Mrs. Kate C. Mitchell, of Jefferson county, for certain outstanding Union Military Bonds, and to provide for the cancellation of the same," to be read at length; the bill was so read, and no objection being made, was signed by the presiding officer in the presence of the Senate in open session, no other business being entertained.

The President announced that all other business would be suspended, and directed Senate bill No. 189, entitled "An act to amend section 7433, article 1, chapter 162 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri, 1879, entitled 'Township elections," to be read at length; the bill was so read, and no objection being made, was signed by the presiding offiin the presence of the Senate in open session, no other business being entertained.

The President announced that all other business would be suspended, and directed Senate bill No. 91, entitled "An act to amend sections 7169 and 7171, chapter 150, article 3, of the Revised Statutes of Missouri of 1879, entitled 'Normal schools,"" to be read at length; the bill was so read, and no objections being made, was signed by the presiding officer in the presence of the Senate in open session, no other business being entertained.

The President announced that all other business would be suspended, and directed Senate bill No. 28, entitled "An act to discourage the keeping of useless and sheep killing dogs, and to provide indemnity

for damages done by same," to be read at length; the bill was so read and no objection being made, was signed by the presiding officer in the presence of the Senate in open session, no other business being entertained.

The President announced that all other business would be suspended, and directed Senate bill No. 168, entitled "An act to amend section 7469, article 7 of chapter 162 of the Revised Statutes of the State of Missouri, 1879, entitled 'Of township trustees and their duties,"" to be read at length; the bill was so read, and no objection being made, was signed by the presiding officer in the presence of the Senate in open session, no other business being entertained.

The president then announced that all other business would be suspended, and directed Senate bill No. 100, entitled "An act to amend section 4200 of chapter 80 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri of 1879, of billiard and other tables," to be read at length; the bill was so read, and no objection being made, was signed by the presiding officer in the presence of the Senate in open session, no other business being entertained; said bills were immediately sent to the House of Representatives for the signature of the Speaker; said bills were then presented to the Governor, for his approval, by the Secretary.

The following message was received from the House of Representatives through Mr. Purdom, one of the clerks :

The President announced that all other business be suspended, and directed the Secretary to read at length House bill No. 421, entitled "An act to make trustees' and mortgagees' deeds evidence."

The bill was read at length, and no objections being made, it was signed by the presiding officer in the presence of the Senate in open session, no other business being entertained.

The President then directed the Secretary to read at length House bill No. 586, entitled "An act to subject the taking of changes of venue in criminal causes from one court to another in the same county to the provisions of the General Statutes of Missouri in reference to the taking of changes of venue in criminal causes."

The bill was read at length, and no objection being made, was signed by the presiding officer in the presence of the Senate in open session, no other business intervening.

The President also directed the Secretary to read at length substitute for House bill No. 412, entitled "An act to amend section 1145 of article 4, chapter 23 of the General Statutes of 1879, entitled 'Of courts of record."

The bill so read, and no objection being made, was signed by the presiding officer, in the presence of the Senate, in open session, no other business intervening.

The President directed the Secretary to read at length substitute for House bill No. 324, entitled "An act to require railroad companies to furnish double-decked cars for the shipment of sheep, and a penalty for failing so to do."

The bill was so read, and no objection being made, it was then signed by the presiding officer in the presence of the Senate in open session, no other business intervening.

The President also directed the Secretary to read at length House bill No. 399, entitled "An act to amend sections 1117, 1133, 1147 and 1163 of article 3, chapter 23 of the Revised Statutes of the State of Missouri, in reference to judicial circuits."

The bill was so read, and no objection being made, it was signed by the presiding officer in the presence of the Senate in open session, no other business intervening.

The President also directed the Secretary to read at length House bill No. 399, entitled "An act to amend section ten (10), also called section 32 of an act entitled 'An act to amend sections 1, 4, 12 and 13 of an act entitled 'An act to establish the twenty-fourth judicial circuit, and to provide for the election of a judge and circuit attorney therefor, approved February 4, 1871, and adding thereto the following new sections 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 and 36," approved March 24, 1879.

The bill was so read, and no objection being made, it was signed

by the presiding officer in the presence of the Senate in open session, no other business intervening.

The President directed the Secretary to read at length House bill No. 229, entitled "An act to amend section 7453, chapter 162, article 4 of the Revised Statutes of the State of Missouri, relating to township election precincts, judges of elections and clerks of elections."

The bill was so read, and no objection being made, was signed by the presiding officer in the presence of the Senate in open session, no other business intervening.

Said bills all having been signed by the presiding officer, to the end that each may become a law, and attested by the Secretary, they were then returned to the House of Representatives.

Senator Edwards of St. Charles submitted the following reports from the Committee on Engrossed Bills, which were read:

MR. On second reading of House bills,

House bill No. 340, entitled "An act to authorize the Board of Commissioners of the Missouri Institution for the Education of the Deaf and Dumb to sell land," was taken up, read second time and referred to Committee on Deaf and Dumb Asylum.

House bill No. 442, entitled "An act to amend section 3198, article 3, chapter 47, concerning 'Hotels, inns and boarding house keepers ;" read second time and referred to Committee on Judiciary.
