Senator Edwards of St. Charles submitted the following report from the Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence, which was read:

MR. PRESIDENT: Your Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence, to whom was referred House bill No. 645, entitled "An act to suppress the circulation and vending of obscene literature," beg leave to report that they have considered the same, and recommend that it do pass with the accompanying amendments.

House bill No. 645, was taken up, and the following amendments, offered by the committee, were read and adopted:

Amendment No. 1: Amend the first section by inserting the words in county jail," after the words "one year," in the 13th line; read first and second times and adopted.

Amendment No. 2: Amend the second section by inserting the words "in the county jail," after the words "one year," in the 12th line; read first and second times and adopted.

Amendment No. 3: Strike out the fourth section; read first and second times and adopted.

Amendment No. 4: Amend the title of the act by adding thereto the following words: "and manufacture and sale of article for immoral uses."

The bill and amendments were laid over informally.

The following message was received from the House of Representatives through Mr. Purdom, one of the clerks:

MR. PRESIDENT: I am instructed by the House to inform the Senate that the House has taken up, amended and passed, Senate bill No. 236 entitled "An act to amend section 7631, article 1, chapter 164 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri, entitled Treasury department,"

In which the concurrence of the Senate is respectfully requested.

Senator Morrisson called up House bill No. 548, and moved to reconsider the vote by which the bill failed to pass; which was carried. The bill was then put upon its passage and passed by the following vote:
