MR. PRESIDENT: Your Committee of the Whole, to which was referred Senate bill No. 41, entitled "An act to appropriate money for the support of the State Government for the years 1881 and 1882," beg leave to report that they have had the same under consideration, and report the same back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass with the accompanying amendments.

The following amendment reported by the committee, read first and second time and adopted:

Amend section 6, printed bill, lines 12 and 13, by striking out the words and figures, "thirty thousand dollars ($30,000)," and by inserting in lieu thereof the words and figures, "thirty-five thousand dollars ($35,000); Provided, That not less than five thousaed dollars ($5,000) of that amount shall be expended in repairing and refurnishing said institution.

The following amendment as offered by the committee:

Amend section 12 by adding the following, viz: For refurnishing the Governor's Mansion, ten thousand dollars ($10,000), to be expended for that purpose under the supervision of the Governor; which was read the first and second time, and the ayes and nays being demanded, the amendment was lost by the following vote:

AYES-Senators Bryant, Cabell, Dungan, Headlee, Heard, Hutt, Jacobs, McGrath, Mackay, Manistre, Morrisson, Naylor, Rogers, Stephens and Walker-15.

Amend section 20 by striking out "ten thousand dollars ($10,000)," and inserting "twenty thousand dollars ($20,000)”—was read first and second time, and the ayes and nays being demanded, was adopted by the following vote:

Senator Edwards of St. Charles moved that the motion to reconsider be laid on the table; which was carried.
