Being made Super-Intendant of the foreign protestant churches in England, he printed this work" de Sacramentis" which even in Strype's time had become so rare that on that account, Strype in his Ecclesiastical Memorials printed the Translation of Lasco's long Dedication to K. Ed. 6th. The present copy has the autograph of the author who gave it to his brother Christopher. According to Herbert's Ames Myerdman only printed six books. Many interesting circumstances concerning John a Lasco will be found in Strype's Life of Cranmer and in his Ecclesiastical Memo

The author was of such singular reputation that he was called by his countrymen "divino;" he published two volumes of "Conceptos" devenus (says Brunet) tres rares. The present volume is in some sort a third though a separate part, and appears to have been printed at Lerida, at Madrid, and Barcelona in the same year, 1616.

N.B. Tho' this MS. is worthy of preservation, yet it should not be published nor exposed to Publick View, because several worthy fami lies now living descended from the Persons herein mentioned, who abhor such fanatic Commonwealth Principles as their forefathers were foolishly drawn into by Persons not to be regarded.

Such is the Title Page of this curious manuscript which extends to 94 pages, after which follow forty pages in a more recent hand, relative to the Parish of Leedes, &c.

The last tract by Hylton, though with the date of 1506, belongs to the book, which is proved from the end of the prologue. "In the latter ende of this boke is a lytell draught of Mayster Walter Hylton of the medled lyfe, &c. and though it haue ben Imprynted before this tyme yet take it charytably, for the more a good thynge is knowen the better it is, &c." See Dibdin's Ames, II. p. 430 and 464.

The first Title Page has a wood cut of the Crucifixion. To the life of St. Bridget

there is a wood cut of the Saint.
