Our lips address The Spirit's name

1 0 THOU that hearest prayer! Attend our humble cry, And let thy servants share

Thy blessing from on high: We plead the promise of thy word, Grant us thy Holy Spirit, Lord!

2 If earthly parents hear

Their children when they cry;
If they, with love sincere,

Their children's wants supply; Much more wilt thou thy love display, And answer when thy children pray.

3 Our heavenly Father thou, We, children of thy grace,Oh, let thy Spirit now

Descend and fill the place;

SALVATION BY CHRIST.

BOND. C. M.

G. F. ROOT.

241.

Zech. 9: 12.

1 How sad our state by nature is! Our sin, how deep it stains! And Satan holds our captive minds

Fast in his slavish chains.

2 But there's a voice of sovereign grace Sounds from the sacred word: "Ho! ye despairing sinners, come, And trust upon the Lord."

3 My soul obeys th' almighty call,
And runs to this relief:

I would believe thy promise, Lord:
Oh, help my unbelief!

4 A guilty, weak, and helpless worm,
On thy kind arms I fall:

Be thou my strength and righteousness,
My Saviour and
my All.

God revealed in the Atonement.

242.
1 FATHER, how wide thy glory shines!
How high thy wonders rise! [signs, 2
Known through the earth by thousand
By thousand through the skies.

2 Those mighty orbs proclaim thy power,
Their motions speak thy skill;
And on the wings of every hour
We read thy patience still.

3 But when we view thy strange design
To save rebellious worms,

(137)

Hath answered all demands;
And peace and pardon from the skies
Are offered by thy hands.

3 'Tis by thy death we live, O Lord!
"Tis on thy cross we rest:
Forever be thy love adored,
Thy name forever blessed.
