my over-busy life to prepare this work for print, because so many who heard me deliver the addresses urged me to publish them in an abiding form, for constant reference. It is for these I have worked, and to these I dedicate my book. Further, the really wonderful blessing given, by our blessing-giving God, to "The Keeper and the Kept" has made me reasonably expect the same for this larger effort. I have received hundreds of letters expressing thankfulness for increased light, and in some cases the entrance of light, through reading "The Keeper and the Kept"; not only from those who heard the address given, but also from those who never heard my voice. I therefore send out these

Bible Talks" with the earnest hope that many

who read, may understand the "will of God" is, that they may be baptized by His Holy Spirit, and thus live a holy, joyful, peaceful, powerful life, for His glory and their own everlasting good.

I must acknowledge that I have gathered these "Talks" from many sources. I know not where a bit here and a bit there; from speakers at conventions, conferences, and Bible readings. Also from the margins of many well-worn Bibles. So that there probably will be much not new and much belonging to other speakers. It so, this must be my apology-"I know not where." My good friend Rev. C. A. Fox gave me the idea for chapters viii., ix., x., in two sentences, at Mildmay some years ago. This is perhaps an

illustration of a good many others. May they in their enlarged form be as great a blessing to many now as the single sentences were and have been to me. I have drunk of a clear stream, risen refreshed, and it has bubbled

over.

Few extempore preachers deliver themselves of their thoughts accurately. I certainly do not; so be kindly lenient in criticism. A lady in Belfast, to whom my best thanks are due, took shorthand notes for her own benefit; and not till many addresses had been delivered did I know the fact. I had tried to get some one to do this, and failed. HE supplied the need, making me certain He desired them to be published.

Please read prayerfully, perhaps a chapter a day, with your Bibles open, praying for your

self, for all other readers, and do not forget me and mine.
