eousness and holiness: and on the other part, that it would please thee to deliver thy church from the danger of those wolves and hirelings who seek themselves, and not the setting forth of thy glory and the safeguard of thy flock.

All this we beg for Jesus Christ's sake, our Lord and Saviour. Amen.

HYMN I.

For the Queen.

King of kings, thy blessing shed

On our anointed sovereign's head; And, looking from thy throne in heaven, Protect the crown thyself hast given.

Her for thy sake may we obey,
Uphold her right, and love her sway;
Remembering, all the powers that be
Are ministers ordain'd by thee.

By her this favour'd nation bless,
To her wise counsels give success;
In peace and war thine aid be seen;
Confirm her strength ;-O save our Queen!

And when all earthly thrones decay,
And earthly glories fade away,
Give her a nobler throne on high,
A crown of immortality.

HYMN II.

For the Clergy.

ORD! cause thy face on us to shine, Give us thy peace, and seal us thine; Teach us to prize the means of grace, And love thine earthly dwelling-place ;One is our faith, and one our Lord, One body, spirit, hope, reward; May we in one communion be

One with each other, one with thee.

Bless all whose voice salvation brings;

Who minister in holy things;

Our Bishops, Priests, and Deacons bless,
Clothe them with zeal and righteousness.
Let many in the judgment-day,

Turn'd from the error of their way,

Their hope, their joy, their crown appear, Bless those who preach and those who hear.

THIS then, in general, is the nature and direction of the mystery of this seemingly entangled world. Out of the midst of it he is drawing the children of the regeneration, knitting them in one fellowship, in part still visible, in part out of sight. When the Son of God passed into the heavens, He began to draw after Him a glorious train of saints, like as the departing sun seems to draw after him the lights which reflect his own splendour, till the night starts out full of silver stars. So shine the saints in an evil world; rising and falling above the boundaries of earth in steadfast and silent course, till all are lost in the

brightness of the morning: and so shall the firmament of the Church break forth with the for a

glory of the resurrection. But now, while, it tarries. Some saints are yet in the mid-heaven, and some are yet to rise upon the world and till all is fulfilled, the desire of the Church unseen is stayed with the "white robes" and the sound of the bridegroom's voice.

ABEL waited for Enoch, and Enoch for Abraham, and Abraham for Moses, and Moses for Paul; and so all holy men along the whole line of this world's history have waited for us ; and we shall wait, it may be, for others yet to come. God is gathering out a mystical number, the hundred and forty and four thousand, which is a symbol of all numbers innumerable-of the twelve tribes of the Israel of God; and he has been gathering them out one by one, from an age or a generation, from a people, a family, or a household, taking one and leaving another in the inscrutable mystery of his choice.
